Seeking Hair Stylist / Considering Donating Long Hair

I have long straight hair and have had the same hairstyle for too long. I'm looking to cut my hair short, but due to finances, I haven't had a haircut in a long time. I'm looking for an affordable hairstylist in the Valley (near Reseda, Tarzana, Northridge, Woodland Hills, Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Studio City). I'm also considering donating my hair. Does anyone know a place that will cut/style hair for free or a discount if you donate your hair to charity?
**I've checked out locksoflove.org, but they do not provide a list of participating salons.
**And I've also researched the internet and cannot find a salon that will cut/style my hair for free or a discount if I donate my hair to charity.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much to everyone that responded to me seeking a hair stylist and my considering donating my long hair! I met Adriana online, who supported me donating my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths -- an organization that provides free wigs to cancer survivors. She arranged for me to get my haircut with her stylist and even paid for the haircut! This meant so much to me! I've had long hair for a long time and due to finances & being a mom, never had the time to get a haircut. I ended up donating 11 inches of my hair and I love my new short hairstyle!

Hi J.,
There is an agency called locks of love who would love to have your hair. They will use it to make a wig for a cancer survivor. You can look them up online. I don't know if they can hook you up with someone who will cut your hair for you for free or not, but I bet they can.
Good luck,
F.

Check the internet for places that will take donated hair and for future haircuts at rock bottom prices, go to a beauty school. You will pay next to nothing (or at some schools nothing!) for the haircut of your choice. The only drawback is that it takes the students a few minutes longer to do the cut, but when you're saving $30, $40, $50 bucks, it's worth the extra 10 minutes.

Good luck!

I agree. Check out locksoflove.com to find a place that will cut your hair for free for donating it. It's worth it! I did it three times and will do it again (if my daughter will get over it).

Hi,
One of my sons donated his hair twice through Locks of Love. I took him to a hairstylist in Northridge which I got through the Locks of Love website. The cut and styling was free. He grew out his hair just for this purpose. The stylist did an excellent job both times. check the website for the measurements you need to grow , good luck.

I lost my mother 2 1/2 years ago to cancer and I remember what she went through when she lost all her hair. As a women it is one of the most difficult things to have to go through. I was determined to gow my hair out and donate it in hopes that it cane make a little difference in someones life. My hair went to Pantene Beautiful Lengths: http://www.beautifullengths.com/en_US/index_home.jsp
It was the BEST feeling I have had in a long time. If you are serious about cutting your hair and donating and are willing to give it to me to send in for you, I will pay for your hair cut at my sylist's salon. I think it is a great thing you are doing and know what a BIG step this is. Please feel free to contact me.
