I am a working mom who is currently out on maternity leave in The Colony area and need to have my hair updated. I'm looking for someone that is comfortable coloring and styling long blond (or at least used to be blond way back when : ) hair and will be o.k. with my infant accompanying me on my hair appointment. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

Style America in Coppell/Velley Ranch. Marlena is wonderful with color. She is the salon manager as well as a trainer for Regis salons. She is not far from The Colony. I highly recommend her! They are quite affordable. My friends with blond hair tell me she is the only one that gets the color perfect. Here is the number ###-###-####. They are on Denton Tapp Road and Sandy Lake next to Thom Thumb and Ana Mias. But, I do agree with the others. I would not take a baby to a hair salon. Not healthy. By the way, Marlena gets booked way in advance. Perhaps you can find a sitter if you schedule way ahead. Good luck. I know how difficult it is to leave your young baby.

Hi L.,

I live in The Colony, too! I don't have a stylist close by, mine is located in Irving off of Rochelle and O'Connor Blvd. It's worth the drive!! I'm not sure if she's taking new clients, but you should give her a call. And she is totally cool with you bringing your baby. She shares a space with one other girl, so there's not a lot going on as far as noise and distractions. I've taken my kids with me when they were babies too. They have turned out just fine! :)

Tim Jon Salon on Main street in The Colony is great. They have great stylists and will work with you to get the color and style that you want. I would recommend them time and time again and you can not beat their prices. They would probably not mind you bringing the baby, but I would not recommend it.
Good Luck and Congrats on your new baby

L., I have to agree with Mary, please do not take your infant to the salon to get your hair done due to the fumes. My hairdresser is Amy T. at Regis in Stonebriar and she does a great job with my hair and I've been seeing her for two years. When DS was younger, my hubby, or sister, would come to the mall with me and stroll around the mall with DS in a stroller. I have seen other people come into the salon with strollers and I cringe ONLY because of the fumes the baby will be exposed to.

I don't have a stylist recommendation, but please don't take your baby unless you're sure you're the only one being taken care of at that time. The chemicals in the air in most salons aren't healthy for adults, much less an infant - especially if they also do nails. Overall, beauticians have a much higher risk of lung cancer.
