Hi Ladies,

I am having a dificult time finding a Dr. for my 5 yr old son. I am hoping to find one that will take the time to answer any questions I have as well as address any concerns I may have. The last Dr. I went to I left the office furious. She was a DO and I asked her the difference between a Do and Md. She told me to look it up on the internet. Anyway, any suggestions I have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
S. C

Hi S.,

I take my 2 year old daughter to Wee Tots and see Dr. Taylor. She is great and they take Medicaid. She is very compassionate and takes her time answering any questions that I may have. I have a friend that also goes to her and she has a special needs child and which is on Medicaid and is always great with her too. Hope this helps.

I use Dr. Radimecky at Cook's in Bedford. They are right behind Harris HEB. I don't know what they accept. The office is no nonsense, let the kids be kids, they will develop as they develop. Hope this helps.

You will find a ton of Drs that take medicaid, but the problem that we had was that most are not accepting new patients. Anyways we went to Dr Crawford at Fort Worth Pediatrics off of university and i-30. She is really nice, althought not very proactive. I had to ask to see referrals, and i had to ask for medicine, she kinda dosn't gett very involved, but she is super sweet. We went to her basically so that we could get transferred later to Dr Senaveve at the same office. He was voted one of the best like 3 pediatricians in fort worth, we don't totally agree on everything (he is VEY pro vaccines) but he is super informative, and very nice. I would say that any of the Drs at the Fort Worth Pediatrics offices are you best bets.

Anyways hope that helped you out some! Best of luck.

Dr. Hayward is great, she's in FTW and a part of Fort Worth Pediatrics. They take Medicaid and she takes time to answer your questions. We've really enjoyed her and any of the Dr.'s with Fort Worth Pediatrics are all great! They also have night clinics and weekend hours for emergency cases only.

The one we go to is at 6401 Harris Pkwy Suite 100 FTW 76132, they have a total of 3 locations. Phone number is###-###-####.

We have CHIPS medicaid through Cook Children's Health Plan and all of the Cook's doctors / pediatricians are included. Is that what you have? If so, Dr. Kim Mangham in Keller is great!

Dr. Neil Levy is wonderful. He is in Lakeworth. I started to take my daughter there since she was born last year and I love it. They take Medicaid, and the staff is great. Plus you can call after hours if you have an emergency and the doctors calls back, which is great also. His number ###-###-####

I have a great pediatrician in southwest fort worth (a little farther, but I think they have other offices). It's called tots and tykes and when I first signed on with them i was on medicaid. The dr. is a D.O. too but is really sweet and talkative! She will talk your ear off. Her nurse practitioner is wonderful. And I've seen the other doctors at the other place and they are all great. I think their other branch is on University drive. The one I go to is on grandbury road. I've really loved them! And there's not much difference between D.O and MD. The DO also does chiropractic type stuff in addition to the MD (so it's more schooling actually in some ways). There are probably other differences, but they do the Same rotations and residences as MDs (we have several friends who are DOs). Anyway! good luck

I also take my son to Tots and Tykes, the University location, and Dr Poquiz is the primary doctor there although he has a couple of younger doctors under him. They have all been pretty nice whenever I've gone in there.

In the same building there is another office, and I will tell you NOT to go there under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. The doctor we were seeing there was named Dr Toyya Kinsey. This woman was HORRIBLE. My son was taken by C-section 4 weeks early, and has always been small, on the bottom of those infuriating thrice cursed growth charts. She was on me from day one to "fatten him up". When he was 9 months old she chewed me out for not having him on solids, but he was firmly loyal to breastfeeding and showing no interest whatsoever in baby foods. She called ECI on me to get me feeding him. He ate for a while then rejected it again. But he was chubby, active, happy, alert and healthy, so I didn't worry about his size since he seemed very healthy for the size he was. A couple of checkups later she was still on me about his size. He seemed to eat well, and I was offering him healthy choices, not junk food. She seemed suspicious and all but accused me of starving him which I would NEVER do. I never left her office one time that I wasn't in tears on the way home. The final time I saw her, the final straw, I lost my composure with her and told her I was feeding him, he seemed to be eating well, I was offering him healthy foods, he seemed to love the things he ate, and that I couldn't FORCE feed him which she all but told me to do. I remarked sarcastically, that it wasn't like I was feeding him McDonald's, in reference to the healthier foods I was giving him. She told me "You should. He needs the fat" I was flabbergasted. I know young children need fats for brain development, and I cooked with real butter and olive oils so I knew that the food he was getting did have healthy fats in them. It stunned me that a doctor would advocate junk food over healthy foods, just to get him higher up on a stupid chart. When I balked, she warned me that if I refused to follow her recommendations, that she would have to call CPS on me because he was falling off the chart and was in "Failure to Thrive" even though he was clearly energetic and healthy and very happy.

I left there and never went back. I walked straight down the hall, still shaking with rage, and asked at Dr Poquiz' office if they were taking medicaid patients and they were. I signed my son up with them and have never looked back.
