B.,
My two and a half year old daughter is on the high energy side and she goes to ABC Preschool in the north end of Boise. It is one of the least expensive in town, they teach them English and Spanish, they are very regimented (i.e. snack times, lunch time, nap time, recreation time and reading time) and my daughter loves it. It doesn't look like much on the outside but the staff is astronomical. You should schedule a visit.

HI B.,
You can call social services and they will e-mail you a list of current providers in the area including home or preschool care. When I looked at home care, I interviewed a few people. I am learning about gut feelings and how to follow them. Now my son is 3 and I am looking at preschools. Social services can also tell you how to access rules and regulations on-line so that you know what to expect and what not to expect. That may or may not help. With the pre-schools, I look at their schedule, their philosophy on cirriclum (see if it matches what you want), how they treat their teachers, how long the teachers have been at the facility, what their potty training policies are, what they do if someone calls in sick, how the teachers respond to the other kids and kids to them. Once you have narrowed your search, you can ask social services about those providers and they will let you know if there have been any reports filed on them. good luck.

Yes, it does depend on where you live. My three year old goes to Maxine Gale's daycare ###-###-####) that's near Fairview and Northview. He used to go to Creative Children's Center that's on Orchard near Curtis. I think both facilities are reasonably priced and they both had a focus on learning, common courtesy and respect. I don't really know if either one is accepting children, but good luck!

Well, it depends on what part of town you're in. Kindercare is outrageously expensive, but each center is different about the food thing. I just found a woman in Beaverton who seems great...I am going to meet her next Friday. You should apply for state daycare assistance if you have not already. This helps out a lot.

Small World is a great preschool! My 3 year old loves it. I've been so impressed at how well the teachers communicate with the children and how much my daughter has opened up.
My daughter is very energetic, and never stops talking, and they don't seem to have a problem with it at all.
I'm not sure how much it is for a 2 year old, but for 3 year old's it is 92.50/week - which is pretty low for child care.

Welll B., it looks like you got a lot of advice as to where to take your son. too bad none of them are near Reno. About the state Aid, do that do that in Reno, NV? Good Luck to you. You might try the churches. I had a friend that lived in Reno and she had her children in a day care at the church. Many of them in the area. give them a call. If they can't do it they can sure provide a meaningful place to consider.

By the way, to all of you that didn't know, you can click on the name and see where they are from.
