Seeking Good Counselor for 12-Year-old Girl

I am looking for a good counselor in the Plano/Allen area for 12-year-old step daughter. She's a good kid. But she needs help working through issues stemming from the situation with her birth mom.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks to all of the wonderful moms for responding with such great information. I'm calling your suggested therapists this week to learn which would be best for my stepdaughter, but I will ask that you keep us in your prayers. We have lots of birth mom issues to work out, but I believe we can get through it. Thanks again.

I would recommend Diagnostic and Treatment Services. You can reach them at ###-###-####. Their office is near Coit and 635. Laura Parsons specializes in adolescents. All three of the Drs. there are excellent.

I take my step-daughter to counseling as well...because of things that have happened while living with her mom. Our therapist is wonderful and I have referred her to so many of my co-workers who see her regularly. Her name is Pam Roos and she is in Plano off of Park and Ohio. Her number is ###-###-####. Good Luck!

Hi S.!

My family goes to Counseling and Consulting Associates of North Texas (CCA). They are located in McKinney off VIrginia so, its a little further than Allen but not too bad. There is a really wonderful woman in they practice who only deals with children, and I am sorry I don't know her name but, I have spoken with parents in the waiting room who think shes WONDERFUL.

The number is ###-###-####.

Hope this helps!

Hi S.,

I have used Pam Roos,###-###-####. She is located in Plano on Ohio Drive.
I've used her for my 11 y/o daughter to help her deal with being away from her dad.
I've been divorced for 6-7yrs but her dad lives in NY since we moved here 3yrs ago.
She is very sympathetic and my daughter liked her very much.

Hi S.,
It looks like you have had a lot of good responses. My suggestion was our church counslers at High Pointe Church of Christ in Mckinney. They are excellent and not as expensive as other therapist. I know that it is further up than intended but it gives you more options.

My 15 year old sees Krysla Karlix in Plano close to 15th and Central. She sees a lot of adolescent girls and my daughter loves her - I do to. Send me a message if you want her phone number.
