Hello fellow mothers! I would like to know which is the friendliest maternity ward in the Orlando area? I have heard good things about Winter Park Memorial Dr. Phillips Baby Place and the new Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. I will be relocating and will have my second child there. If any of you have given birth at either hospital please share with my your experience.

Thanks!

I just had my daughter at Winnie Palmer and my experience was unforgettable. The staff was super friendly and the attention I got was amazing. What I liked the best was that in my room, there was a murphy bed so that my fiance could spend the night with me, and not have to sleep on those uncomfortable recliners. Also, the food was great! I really felt as though I was staying in a hotel instead of a hospital if it weren't for the pain. I recommend this hospital to everyone!

I heard great things from The Winnie Palmer hospital too, I had my two daughters at the Florida Hospital, and I had different experiences every time, the second one was a nightmare, which I don't wish to anybody. I am pregnant with bay #3 and hoping to deliver at the WP hospital this time.
Good Luck!!

Hello,

Like Elizabeth I too gave birth in a Birthing Center it is called Special Beginings in Winter Park and it was perfect. They specialize in child birth so just being a nurse in a hospital isn't just a job. They really give all of their attention to you. I have never given birth in any of these hospitals but I worked at Arnold Palmer for 2 years and I hear the new Winnie Palmer should be great, They are for women only. I recently had to spend 3 days at Winter Park Memorial hospital for heart reasons and the nurses were wonderful but the hospital itself was the worst. I would not recomend you give birth there because the administrative department messed up all my paperwork and insurance information.

Congradulations on the baby and good luck on the search for a hospital.

I had my daughter at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. I had a good experience. The nurses were very kind and sweet and made sure you felt comfortable. It was my first baby and I was having a c-section, so I was nervous, but the nurses were so nice and addressed all my concerns with a good attitude and made me feel welcomed. After the birth, they continued to take care of me, my husband, and my newborn daughter and until the day we left, we felt comfortable. They really were very nice and gave us attention and responded to all our calls. I would give birth there again.

I just had mt son at Winnie Palmer about 4 weeks ago and had a very pleasant experience. So many things were improved from when I had my first son at Arnold Palmer just 2 years ago.

First of all, all the rooms were comfortable. The labor and delivery room was planned out so well -- everything could be done while giving everyone the space they needed and my family never felt that they were in the way. The nursery on my floor was like a fishbowl so everyone could see my baby and were not constricted to one little window. My room had the murphy bed for my husband and a glider for us to rock the baby in, the bathroom was spacious enough for a nurse and I to be in it together to do what we needed to do. There was also an additional sink outside the bathroom so guests can wash their hands even if someone was in the bathroom.

Secondly, the nurses are a lot more accessible now. They each have something like a cordless phone that they carry around with them all the time so you can get a hold of your nurse quickly. Even when they are on their break!! Every one of my nurses were very friendly and accomodating.

Lastly, the one service that I did not expect but got was that they had someone come every few hours, even in the middle of the night, to change my water. They made sure that I had fresh ice water and never got dehydrated.

Thumbs up from me for the great service at Winnie Palmer!!

I delivered my son at Winnie Palmer in June, right after it opened. Since he is my first, I didn't have a prior birthing experience at any other hospital, but I will tell you that my husband and I were very impressed with the quality of the facility and especially the nursing staff. My nurses were especially helpful in teaching me how to breastfeed - just ask and they will be happy to caoch you through it!

Winnie Plamer is nationally renowned and some women travel from all over Florida to have the chance to deliver there. In fact, it has the 4th largest NICU in the country. The rooms are private and spacious, have huge windows that can let in a lot of natural light and have Murphy beds so someone can stay w/ you full time. Also, you can have your baby "room in" with you as much as you want - on the flip side, they will also take care of him/her in the nursery if you want so you can get some much needed rest. The rooms are accoustically designed too so that you really don't hear your neighbors - in fact, I never heard any other babies crying.

The on-staff pediatricians were all very patient and informative as well - something that is especially good if your own pediatrician doesn't make hospital calls.

I will definitely return there for the birth of my next child.

I had my first child at Arnold Palmer, (now Winnie Palmer) And it was the absolute worst care Ive ever recieved in any hospitol. Not only were the nurses rude and took forever when you called them, they caused a bloodclot in my arm that almost killed me because they didnt flush my IV the whole time I was there. I recently had my son at Celebration Health, and it was Wonderful, its not as busy as the other hospitals so you get better care, and it's beautiful, and you dont ahve to worry about sharing a room with a stranger. I loved it, I didnt want to leave lol. Hope this helps, good luck!

I gabe birth at Winter Park Memorial in mid July and I would give birth there again without a doubt. We we arrived the nurses answered all of my questions (this was our first child so we a million questions. They informed us of our options as far as pain medication, relaxation, etc. The nurses coached and encouraged me througout the delivery and recovery. The acknowledged and respected our requests regarding my baby (staying with us at all times, no bottles, no pacifiers) My fiance was allowed to be with at all times (during testing and measurements). The day after my daughter was born, the nurses and doctors came in early to check the both of us and make sure everything was on track. We signed up for our pictures and had a complimentary massage between the vistits. After I was discharged from the hospital they continued to help me with breastfeeding and answering any questions I had. I just received a card from the staff saying thank you for choosing the Baby Place and sending good wishes. Our experience was wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to help me through that. Good Luck with whatever decision you make and congrats on your new baby.

I recently had my first child at The Birth Place birthing center in Winter Garden. It was an incredible experience. I am not sure how you would feel about a natural experience, but the bond that I formed with my midwife, Jennie Joseph was amazing. I was also in total control the entire time of my body and I had my own friendly support system around. All of my friends who have given birth in a hospital say they will have a birth center experience the next time after being there with me. If Winter Garden is too far, there is a place called The Birthing Cottage, it is right down the street from the winter park hospital. I had my birthing classes there. It is on Fairbanks and 1792 right behind the Wendy's. I urge you to just check it out. You will see that having a midwife at your birth will ensure you to have the best experience.
If that is not the way that you want to go, I have heard excellent things about both facilities, especially Winter Park.

I had my first daughter in Winter Park Memorial almost 4 years ago. I LOVED it so much, that I just had my second daughter there also on 8/9/06. The nurses are great! Since it's a smaller hospital, you get more individual care. Also, my second daughter was born 7.5 weeks early, so she was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU nurses are the best! They were so sensitive to what we were going through and helped us to learn how to care for our preemie. Both girls were delivered there by C-section. The staff is top notch! I wouldn't go anywhere else! I had 2 friends go to Winnie Palmer 1 month and 5 days before me, I was not impressed. It's a baby factory and the nurses run it like dictators.

If I may make a suggestion: Avoid Winter Park memorial like the plauge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my son Eric there back in May... The treatment I got was HORRIBLE!!! First, they did not bring my baby to me until 5 hours after the C-Section was complete... Then, that night, the nurse came in at midnight to help change my dressing (as I still couldn't move and get out of bed myself because of the spinal and the foley catheter)... Since I was in the middle of BF'ing my son, she said "I'll come back!" and didn't return until 7 in the morning... So, I got to sit in bloody filth for 7 hours longer than necessary... Also, I informed them that I was breastfeeding, and under NO circumstances were they to give my child a bottle... Guess what? They fed him a bottle in the nursery when they took him to put him under the heat lamps. Also, they were VERY rude to me, to my husband, and were very "cold"... On the 2nd day (when I was able to walk around), I had to go to the bathroom, so, I had Eric laying on the bed sleeping surrounded by pillows... The food service lady came in to deliver lunch (which, btw, was something prepared w/ pineapple when I TOLD them I was DEATHLY allergic to pineapple!!!) and spilled stuff all over the bed where Eric was laying!!!
Like I said... AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAUGE IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!
