My son just turned one a week ago. He has just been diagnosed with his 5th sinus infection and 2nd ear infection since January 2nd. We have decided to see an ENT and was hoping to get some feed back from all you smart mommies. We live in Allen, so Plano or even Frisco is fine with us. I'd love to hear who you would suggest as well as who I should stay away from. Thanks so much for taking time to help me out!!

So What Happened?

We decided after an overwhelming majority of you Moms recommended Dr. Mehendale to make an appointment with him. We saw him this morning and everybody was so right, he was awesome! Very nice, didn't seemed rushed and gave me a "parent's point-of-view" as well as his medical advice. We have decided that with all my son's problems we will be getting tubes in his ears and his adnoids removed. Don't know when the surgery is, but will have it scheduled Monday when his surgical coordinator calls. Thanks for ALL your input.

I must also recommend Dr. Thrasher in McKinney. My pediatrician also recommended him for my son's constant sinus infections and he's been wonderful.

My son (now 6) had a lot of ear infections also although his started a little earlier at around 1 year. We went to Dr. William Cobb in Plano. He has a lot of experience with children and is excellent. My son still asks if he can go see Dr. "Cough".

Go see Gretchen Champion at the Allen Presbyterian Hospital. She has now put tubes in both my daughters. the first one was age 13 months when she did it. My older daughter just had it done 2 weeks ago at the age of 4 and a half. Dr. Champion is a mother of young children and understand the fears and concerns around having young ones in surgery. Her bed side manner is awesome!!!I even see her myself.

Warning - do NOT see Dr. Ragsdale (with whom she shares an office - is not his partner). He is AWFUL!!!

Good luck. The procedure is fast (10 min) and the results are so worth it!

Hi C.,

My daughter had 8 ear infections in her first 11 months, and we were referred to a fantastic ENT - Dr. Matheny at Collin County ENT. Here is the link: http://www.collincountyent.com/
He is GREAT with kids and eased our fears about her surgery to get tubes. I highly recommend him. Good luck! H.

My daughter is 15months and will be seeing an ENT this month about getting tubes in her ears. The two doctors that were recommended by my pediatrician were Gretchen CHampion in the Allen hospital...and the other place is called ENT associates of Frisco. I am taking my daughter to the lady in the Allen Hospital.

Dr. Gregory Rohn is amazing. He is with Southwest ENT Associates at Plano Presby. http://www.swent.com/
He put tubes in my son's ears and will also be doing his tonsillectomy later. He has children of his own and is very patient. My son (3yrs) actually likes to go and see Dr. Rohn.

Hi! My son who is 14 months old now, had to have tubes right before his one year birthday. We went to Dr. Richard Thrasher and he was supper nice. He is in the McKinney Hospital Medical Office Building. First floor. We didn't have to wait forever in the waiting room or the exam room. He is new to the area so he is having to re-build his practice from what I understand. My pediatrician recommended him to us. The website is http://www.theearnosethroatcenter.com/index.html. Talk to you later.

Try Dr. Chamblee, she is awesome. I had sinus surgery with her and then when my little girl was diagnosed as needing tubes I went straight to her. She is not specifically a childs ENT, but she did an awesome job on my little one. She is out of Frisco, right off of 121, just west of Alma.

While she was putting the tubes in my daughters ears she also did an AWESOME job of removing a cyst that was right above her eye. You can't even tell she had anything done.

My daughter just had her tonsils and adenoids out last month and we went to a wonderful dr. Her name is Dr. Amy Coffey and she is at Plano Presby. She did the surgery at Children's Medical Center. It was a very good experience. The doctors and nurses there were wonderful with her and she just turned 6. Dr. Coffey is about to move to the new Children's Hospital at Hedgcoxe and Legacy. I can not express how easy she made it for my daughter. When she came out of the surgery she did not even know they had done ANYTHING to her. She didn't even know that she had an IV in her. If you would like more information about her let me know and I will get you her phone number.

Dr. Roger Skiles is amazing. He is at Baylor Frisco located on Warren Parkway near Legacy. His number is ###-###-####. He has done tubes for both our son and daughter and has removed our son's adenoids. We see him every 6 months. He is wonderful with children and adults alike and has to be the most caring doctor I have ever seen (I've seen him for sinus issues myself as he sees children and adults). Our children love him and look forward to their appointments with him.

I wouldn't take my kids to anyone but Greg Rohn at Presby Plano, but Dr Coffey and Dr Biavati are also very good.

I also highly recommend Dr. Mehendale. His wife is my pediatrician and I have had 2 friends have him put tubes in their kids ears - nothing but rave reviews - thankfully mine have not have any ENT issues - so I'm just going off of what others have told me.

We highly recommend Chad McDuffie, MD or Neelesh Mehendale, MD at Frisco ENT ###-###-####. Both are wonderful and the accept most major insurance plans. They treat our toddler daughter and have seen both of us. My spouse and I are both in the medical field and we have been very pleased with them.

Dr. Mehendale at Friso ENT is just great. Both my children have had ear infection issues and I'm totally comfortable with his treatment, office staff, and his level of communication. They are located in the Centennial Medical Center at Coit/121.
