"Seeking Emergency Shelter in Cartersville Georgia Area"
I am currently living with my ex-husband my daughter 4,(which is his) and my son who is 13. I am in a very very emotionally abusive relationship. I am wanting desperately to get out but I have no place to go. I am working as an LPN with Wellstar, but the job is only PRN. I don't have the money to get out and I am so desperate to find someone who will help me. Since I don't make a whole lot of money and have a car payment and insurance payment as well, it doesn't leave much for groceries if any. My ex-husband will not put food in the house half the time so my kids don't have much to eat. Since I am staying there i, of course, do not receive child support and I am at my wits end about what to do to get us out of there. I spoke with a woman in pickens county that told me of some very nice emergency shelter in Cartersville, Georgia that will take someone for up to 25 weeks is what i think she said. I am having problems locating the place, if there is such a place. If you can help me please let me know. I am very desperate.

Go to the YWCA in Marietta. They have a shelter for women and children. I used to work as the children's therapist there. If they don't have room they'll help you find a place.

You should also go and apply for emergency assistance to social services, they can help you with food and for what I understand with emergency money.

Hi,
You might want to try MUST ministries. They have locations in Marietta and Cherokee counties that aren't too far away. MUST is a non-profit, faith based organization that since 1971 has provided housing, food and other basic necessities to people in need in northwest metro Atlanta. Also, even if you do not attend church, an area church might be able to help you find an agency or program for your situation. Please get help soon. I know this is a very hard situation. Stay strong.
