Hi ladies

My friend's son was diagnosed with sensory integration disorder today. He is especially having trouble with eating. She needs to get him in to see an eating disorder specialist asap and is having trouble getting a call back from the one she was referred to. If anyone has some names and numbers it would be greatly appreciated.. and any info on his diagnosis would be great too.

What can I do next?

The occupational therapists at TMC are very good with feeding problems, and they accept almost all insurances. These problems require multiple visits and can become very expensive if you go to a private company. The OT's at TMC are as good as any in town. They are skilled, gentle, and caring. I refer people to them all the time. (And I get nothing in return).

There is a good OT named Paula Kelly - she may be able to help - also, Sanford Newmark is a good developmental pediatrician -

My oldest son has sensory Integration disorder. He just needed OT and they told me to brush his teeth with a electric toothbrush all over his mouth, not just on the teeth to stimulate the muscles in the mouth as well at they had him doing some swinging on his belly and other exercises which helped a lot with the behavioral problems that come with it as well. I never had an eating specialist but the OT specialist was enough to help with the major problems.
