Hi everyone! I have 3 German Shepherds and a Pug (my daughter's dog). We are looking for a vet who might specialize in large dogs or at least is knowledgable and reasonable. We have not been able to find that rare combination since we moved here over two years ago. Our Shepherds are getting up in years and I anticipate some issues as time goes on. I am looking for a vet that doesn't want to sell me medications/vaccinations unless absolutely necessary and really cares about the animals and not just the money. Please help!!! Thanks so much, B.

Hi B.,
I think I have been to every vet in Tamnpa, between my own guys, my rescue work and working at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay:} With my large guys (Weims and Humane Society Specials), my favorite by far is Dr. Rosenberg at Bayshore Animal Clinic in South Tampa. He is a traditional vet, but also studies holistic med, so you get a good mixture of both. Because my guys all have various big dog issues (hips, knees, spine) Dr. Stu has truly been a blessing. When we have had to have ortho surgery done--he worked with the surgeon to ensure follow up and rehab care was excellent for the guys.
Good luck,

Danielle

Hi B.,
Don't know if you live in the Riverview/Brandon/Valrico area, but I live in Riverview, and have used Dr. Bob Encinosa since 1991. I had a dual registered American Pit Bull Terrier that had been traumatized by another Vet on Lithia Pinecrest, and then misdiagnosed by another Riverview Vet (because they did not like the breed I found out) and at 5 months old, he nearly died. Dr. Bob owns Boyette Animal Hospital on Boyette Road and it is a very nice facility, his staff has worked there a long time....tells me something. The telephone number is ###-###-#### and I bet you can work something out financially with him. Tell them Luke and Toby's mom sent you! grin.
All the best, and much luck!
