Seeking Divorce Attorney with Experience with Autistic Child Custody-Denton Cnty
I just finished my temporary custody hearing for my 3 year old autistic daughter, the judge gave my soon-to-be ex more than expanded standard custody. This creates some back and forth between us for her, like Mondays Mom's, Tuesdays Dad's, Wednesdays Mom's, Thursdays Dad's more transition than a "normal" divorce. My current lawyer was unprepared, did not cross question, and showed no ability to think on her feet. She tells me I should be happy with the outcome. I need a lawyer that understands that autistic kids need stability even more than other kids. I live in Lewisville and I need someone who practices in Denton county.

I wish I had an answer regarding an attorney. That arrangement sounds awful for your daughter. I feel for you. I, too, am a single mom living in Flower Mound with a young daughter now age 5. I just wanted to encourage you and also give you my name and number to tuck away. Please call me if you'd like support or just a friend. I have a wonderful group of single moms (we're ll professional and a little older with younger children which is sometimes hard to find.) I also wanted to tell you about a place called Parenting Alone. It's a fabulous resource for what you are walking through and they are wonderfully caring and staffed. It's not far either...off I-35 and George Bush.

Hi C.,
I am sorry you are going through this. My law partner is the father of an autistic child, and so our firm really understands the needs or your child and your family during temporary orders, and also when finalizing a custody situation. Give our office a call and we will get you in for a free consultation,
Thanks, K. Smith

I wanted to let you know that I am sorry what your going through. I am a single mo that has a 4 yr old son that is on the Autism Spectrum with Sensory Integration Disorder with Speech and Motor skills delays. The ex didn't come around til my son was 6 months but we gradually got it to standard at 3. He is with his dad on Tues from 9-4 and Thurs over nights and every 1st, 3rd and 5th weekend.
