We are moving to St. Charles in June and would like to enroll my 5 year old in dance and gymnastics classes for the fall. Any recommendations on where to go? Do I need to sign up soon or should I wait until the fall? I am also looking for a good way to get to know other moms in the area.

What can I do next?

Hi K.,

Here is a link to the St. charles park district, they are hard to get into some classes at times. You have to make sure you register right away. But there are also several dance companies in the area. http://www.st-charlesparks.org/links/danceyouth.html
Here is a link to some local ones, I've done Ambition Dance and they are ok. I know there is another local one in St. Charles but I can't find it listed that was recommended to me I will look for it more and email it to you. My dd is also 5. What grade school will you be going to?

My daughter does dance through the Geneva park district. It's a very good program and I'm sure St. Charles has something similiar. We do gymnastics at St. Charles Gymnastics Academy (stcharlesgymnstics.com). They have a fantastic facility and great coaches. For meeting other moms, you might try the St. Charles Mother's Club (stcharlesmothersclub.org). It's a philanthropic/social group. Good luck on your move.

Hi!

I teach at a dance studio called 3rd Street and Theatre in St. Charles and have been there for about 3 years. They have a very nice program for 5-7 yr olds which is 30 min of ballet and 30 min of jazz. (I'll be there on Mon and perhaps Tuesdays also). If she is on the younger side of 5, there is another class called Tumble and Toes (for 4-5 year olds) which is ballet, tap and a 'little' bit of tumbling. That is only a 45 minute class. They have a recital in May/June every year so we are currently getting ready for that. I know some of those classes I mentioned can get full quickly, but if you are getting here in June, you shouldn't have any problem getting her in. I know St. Charles has a few different options in dance studios, so you'll have no problem finding one. I have been very happy teaching at 3rd Street and love the owner. Good luck with your move!! S.

Hi K.- We live in Geneva and the geneva park district (very close to st. charles) offers wonderful classes in both gymnastics and dance. I have 3 girls and a boy and all my girls have done some of the classes. You can check them out online genevaparks.org. I would guess St charles park district also offers classes at a resident discount.
Good Luck
Beth
PS If you have any questions about the area feel free to send me a message- we moved about 3 years ago from MI and there is a lot to learn!
