Seeking D.A.N. Doctor or Other Doctor That Is Knowledgeable About Autism Range

I am looking for a D.A.N. doctor or a doctor who is experienced and knowledgeable about autism range disorders. It seems most doctors claim to know but they only dabble and don't provide any real understanding. My daughter is 30 months old and still doesn't talk, I have never heard her say "Mommy" or "MaMa". She didn't have it and then lose it like many autism cases (regression autism) she never got it in the first place. We hear a word and then it's gone, never to return. We are signed up with Early Intervention, but I don't see them helping. I was going to try the Casein Free and Gluten Free diet but my doctor said it wouldn't help if she didn't have a Gluten allergy. We took the blood test and it was negative, so I didn't try. Then she got a stomach virus and we had to give up milk for 4 days, and after day 3 I heard new sounds. I am exhausted, depressed and frustrated and need a doctor who will help me and give me options.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

Dr. M. Ann Block in Hurst/Bedford area is a DAN physician:

Also, what test did your doctor run for gluten and did they also test for the dairy allergy (casein)?

Also, blood tests can be negative even though there is a gluten reaction. Also, the blood tests are known to not be very accurate for young children as their immune systems haven't matured enough to be able to produce measurable antibodies.

You should get a copy of the blood test and they should also have measure total IgA and total IgG. Many immune compromised folks have low levels of these, thus any blood tests are NOT accurate.

There is a stool test you can do on your own that is extremely accurate: www.enterolab.com

M. B.
--whose oldest was near the Asperger's end of the Autism spectrum improved tremendously on a GF/CF diet despite a doctor saying it wouldn't help.

dr pierre robert in grapevine (grapevine pediatrics) and dr charles hamel in arlington. also dr. amy yasko (dramyyasko.com). all amazing doctors very versed in current autism recovery info.

Dr. Rao is WONDERFUL. Just be prepared for a long wait in the waiting room..

Dr. Rao in Plano is a DAN doctor and will most likely run a heavy metals test, if it shows elevated levels a Gluten/Casein free diet is very necessary.
Also there is a new DAN doctor in Frisco that I have heard great things about, he is listed in the mamasource business reviews.
I have not heard good things about Dr. Block just an fyi. You can learn more at www.camsvoice.com too :)
Blessings to you,
