Seeking Comfortable, Not Too Formal Church
Hi Mama's,
Yeah! My husband has finally decided that he wants to start going to church (he hasn't wanted to for years). However, he told me that he wants to look around for a new church home that isn't too formal (he dresses up 5 days a wk and doesn't want to again on Sun)....so, I'm looking for some ideas of some churches to visit. We went to Lakepointe Church in Rockwall last week - HUGE and Awesome, but tooooo far away. We would like to stay in Plano or the surrounding areas. I really like the "new wave" type of churches that have a lot to offer - especially in the children's ministry. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I'm just so excited that we can all go as a family again...hopefully starting soon!
Thanks Mama's! OH, our current church home is Methodist, but I'm open to any type of church (non-denom, etc)...I just want us to go as a family!

Try a few to see what your best fit is. But out of all the ones I know in the area (my husband and I visited several about a year ago) I would recommend you trying Suncreek Methodist in Allen or Chase Oaks Church in Plano. The people who go to these churches RAVE about them and my husband and I really liked them too. We ended up going to a church in North Dallas called Watermark which is my opinion the best church in the world, but it is not close as you request. Just my opinion.

CELEBRATION COVENANT CHURCH!!!!!!! I know your whole family will love it! It's in Frisco. We usually go on Saturday, they have services at 5:00 and 7:00p.m. Some people dress up and some (like me) go pretty casual. I have a 2 and a 5 year old and the kid's programs are awesome. You can also watch the services live online. Check out the website: http://www.celebrationcovenant.com/
Hope to see you there!

You guys might really like Fellowship Church in Dallas; there's a location just off 75 near Spring Creek. I've heard Ed Young on the radio & really like his style & teachings & we attended his dad's church in Houston & loved it. (We now really like attending Lakepointe in Rockwall, but it's easy for us b/c we live 2 minutes away...) ;D
Have fun!!
edited to add: We have some really close friends who attend Fellowship Church. They really like the children's programs and what is and will be available for their 1-yr-old daughter as she grows.

We attend Stonebridge United Methodist and love it. The church is located in McKinney, hope that is not to far from you.
My husband is not big into getting dressed up on the weekends, and it doesn't really matter what you wear as long as you show up =) They have a wonderful children's ministry as well as a contemporary and traditional service.
Good luck finding a new home, and congrad's on getting your husband to go.

We go to New Heritage in Allen. It is a smaller church, but we love it. The Children's Ministry is the best and one of the main reasons I love our church. We are a big family and even though we take God very seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously. We are at 8 Prestige Circle, Suite 122 in Allen. Just east of 75 off of Bethany. Our service starts at 9:30am and we are done about 11am.

We attend Suncreek Untied Methodist Church in Allen. Our pastor is dynamic and captivating. You won't be disappointed. We have more kids than adults at our church. There is a contemporary service at 9:30. Hope you find a place you feel at home soon:)

Oh I think Chase Oaks Church would really be up your alley. www.chaseoaks.org
It's a non-denominational church in Plano -- on Legacy, near 75 -- next to Cinemark Legacy theaters. Great children's ministry!
Services are Friday 7 pm; Sunday 9 am & 11 am
We are sooo casual.... some people dress up because they want to, but most "come as they are". People wear jeans to all services. It's great because it does not give you a lousy excuse to miss church -- "i have no clean nice clothes to wear." People are invited to come as you are.
Hope you can visit us!!
