I am thinking of a construction theme for my son's 1st birthday. I have ideas for decor, invites, and the menu but I need centerpiece ideas as well as age appropriate favors. We have a pool that we are have the kids swim in, but do I need additional activities?

What can I do next?

Hi D.,

You ought to check out "Temptation Flowers" in Encino. Kaisy is the owner of the store and she is the most talented and creative florist you are ever going to meet. She also has a website: "temptationflowers.com" so you could get a sampling of some of her work.

Good luck,
N.

Hey D.,

You should take a look at ebay. I always get party stuff from there. They have invitations and party favors, just the cutest stuff ever. They have the best personalized stuff. Try to serach under "party favors construction" or "personalized party favors". Here are just a few I found.

For my sons birthday, i set out and arts and crafts table for some of the children to keep them entertained. i set out markers, glue, construction paper, and some other stuff, and just let them have fun creating.

it depends alot on the age group of children you are inviting as well..

its summertime, and there are lots of bucket and shovels at inexpensive places like the dollar tree and 99 cent store that you could maybe make like construction favor buckets??! you can also pick up some plastic dump trucks, and various constrution vehicles there as well. maybe make a few center pieces with those and soem balloons!

hope this helps!

A themed party sounds so exciting! Recently I attended a football-themed birthday party where they put up a tv that played a musical snapshow made from digital pictures of their child's first year. The snapshow was professionally made and was beautifully choreographed to music, with a football theme. They had got it done from http://www.smilingsnaps.com It was so touching- I had never seen anything like that before!! I am planning to do something similar for my kid's upcoming birthday. Hope this helps.

Buy beach buckets, fill them with sand. Place them in the center of the tables. Fill each bucket with small "Matchbox"-like trucks (small). Or, go to a party supply store or market and buys aluminium cookie sheets (the kind with the small edges) and place sand in them and put the trucks on that. You could put a small greet plant in the middle or a small bouquet if you want to add some color. The trucks cost about $1.00 a piece and the kids can take them home (the older ones - a year is a bit young)

Hi D., You can call Peng, who owns Trellis Floral Creations & Gifts ###-###-####) at 11977 San Vicente Blvd. in Brentwood. She is extremely creative and her centerpieces are simply gourgeous! Since she's a mother of 3 and just celebrate her youngest daughter's first birthday 3 months ago, I'm sure she can come up with something for you. Have fun!
