Seeking Bagless Vacuum Cleaner: Need Advice!

We have the Bissell bagless vacuum cleaner. It works great! And my mother has it along with a dog and cat! Good luck

we have the Bissell Healthy Home -- got it on eBay for a great deal and like it. it's a little heavy to lift, but not too bad. it cleans great though and the attachments are good. i don't think it's a big deal to empty the canister.

I love my dyson vacuum cleaner. it never needs bags or filters. i do not think it is better noise wise but it is not any louder than any of the vacuums out there. It is also safe on hardwood floors and is good for allergies since it has a filter to filter out allergens.The cord is 37 feet long and it has a telscopic handle to reach hard places.

Dyson as well. Yes price is high, but lasts for years and years.

Also check specials, sometimes Target gives great prices.

Not all models available at the stores that sell it. Go to Home Depot that have one set up to use. Looks wierd, but don't let that put you off. The hose is super long, can do whole flight of stairs with it.

One machine the kids haven't broken and we've had it 3 years. I was going through a vacumn cleaner a year so i fell I am already ahead of the game.

I have had an Oreck for over 5 years now and I love it. It has a bag but it was designed to keep dust and allergens from going back into the air. I have a dog and it picks up all the dog hair with ease and it is light weight if you ahve to go up or down stairs with it.

Baglass vacuums aren't always the best answer.

I have tried to clog this sucker! And even if I do suck up a crayon on accident, I can quickly take the vacuum apart, with no tools! I love mine and wouldn't trade it for the world!
I have the red one ( my husband got it at target) and we have both wood & carpet, it does a great job on both, and when I take the "cleaning wand" out it goes up my 12 steps, and the base stays at the bottom no problem!

DYSON! We have 4 kids and 2 dogs. Our home has hardwoods and carpet. Dyson is an investment, but I used a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath and Beyond which really helped. It is fabulous - worth every bit of hype. Good Luck.

OMG I freakin hate my Dyson, I can't believe how many ladies on here like it. I actually posted on here not too long ago a question on what recommendations people had for vacuums. I never liked that dang Dyson since the first time I used it. Its been sent back 2 xs for repairs. And I have to do this weird little shaking movement with it to get it to suck. Its nothing like the commercial suggests. I even have a cleaning lady who come every other week and she hates it too, MOF she brings her own vacuum. Sorry, but I vote no on the Dyson (Unless mine is just a lemon).

I purchased a "Rainbow" vacuum in 1988 just before our first daughter was born. They were selling them door-to-door at the time, and the demonstration was impressive. I have LOVED using it ...it is a system where the air passes thru water prior to returning to the air, so all dust and debris is captured in the water. I just LOVE using it, despite having to empty the dirty water each time. I know my house has less allergens in it.

I know they have a web address, but not sure if they still make them...it is worth checking out! If not a rainbow, maybe there is another system that uses water...it is THE BEST.

in my opinion, i hate bagless vacuums. i went for years with a traditional bag vacuum and thought i'd try the new canister ones. but everytime i would go to dump the canister in the trash, the dust and dirt would just blow back up into my face and my nose...then if you don't keep up with cleaning the filter it gets so clogged up with dirt that the vacuum doesn't run. i have problems with asthma anyway, so i was not impressed with these types of vacuums. because of the animals in my house, (pets, not kids..lol) that filter would have to have been washed everyday. i recently went back to the bag one and i am much happier. the vacuum i have does carpet and hardwood, you can slide the switch to the floor type.

I also have hardwood floors, tile, and carpeting in my home. We invested in a Dyson about 6 months ago and have not regretted it for one minute. I was skeptical of the price and how good it could actually be so I borrowed our neighbor's for a "test sweep" and was immediately hooked. They are a lot of money, but they are GREAT! The air coming out of the Dyson vacuum is actually cleaner than the normal air in a room. It also has a bare floor setting, as well as carpet so it should take care of everything you have. I have not used my Dirt Devil (bought for stairs) or stick vacuum (originally bought for my hard wood floors) since I got the Dyson.
I have become something of an unpaid Dyson advocate because I love it so much. I have a dog who seems to generate a lot of hair and I could vacuum everyday. Believe me, with the Dyson, if I re-vacuum one day later-- I cannot believe what this vacuum sucks out of the carpet! Easy to use, easy to empty, no bags, wand handle for the stairs, great design, etc. I don't know if I'd call if "quiet" but I don't care a bit! Good luck.

I notice there is one response on here that talks about a "Rainbow." This is the BEST cleaning system in the world. I have a 2007 with the air purifier on it and it runs 24 hours a day on low speed and it's alway ready to pick up a spill. They are quite expensive but I have two---a 1979 and 2007. They are worth their weight in gold. I have saved every penny I have spent in doctors visits. My son has asthma and allergies----hasn't been to the doctor once this season.----------Like I said, "Worth every penny." They also do trade ins just like cars. I'm sure you can find a dealer by doing a search in your area of Rainbow cleaning systems. I know who my dealer is in my area.

Dyson is amazing. It is on the pricy side, but well worth it.

I love my Dyson Animal. I've vacuumed with my son sleeping and also kept it on while on the phone. Besides--- it works great!

Love my Dyson! The air filter has never been clogged and barely looked dirty after after a year of use! It's also easy to empty. I simply take off the cannister, carry it to my trash can in the yard and pull the trigger. The bottom drops and all the debris falls right to the bottom of my trash can. It's very quick, and I have no problems with dust rising. I just flip the trash can lid back in place and all is well. I also have a combination of hardwood and carpeted floors, as well as very high ceilings. The Dyson handles the floors, and the long hose reaches the tops of my windows, corners of the room, and all the way up my staircase.

I bought a Bissell Powerforce from Walmart for about $65. The suction on this thing is so much that I can hardly push it on my carpet. I also have all hardwood floors with just a couple of area rugs in a couple of rooms. It works great on both. It has canister and filters that can be washed. There is 1 hepa filter to replace.

i love love LOVE my dyson for our carpets and our hardwood floors. it was a lot of money but the thing rocks!!!!

I want to reiterate what Stephanie said. I bought my first bagless vacuum 3 years ago - a Bissell. I don't necessarily hate it but the canister isn't as convenient as I thought. I had been so excited about not having to keep bags on hand, as I usually ran out of them at the most inopportune times. Anyway, I take the canister outside to empty it and clean the filter. If you don't take your time it tends to make a dust cloud. The filter can usually be cleaned by knocking the dust off with a paintbrush. Sometimes I've used our shop vac to suck the dust off. It just seems like more work than I had imagined it would be. So if you are considering a bagless that was recommended by another mom, maybe ask her specificially about emptying the canister and changing the filter.

We have the basic model, but you they've come out with some even better ones. We got it b/c it was recommended for people with allergies, and it's also super quiet. We'll proabably get another one if this one ever dies!
