Seeking Allergist for 7 Month Old

I am looking for recommendations on a good allergist in the Phillipsburg/Easton (NJ/PA) area. My 7 month old has severe allergies and eczema and is constantly suffering. We have been taking him to an allergist and like him, but would like to get a second opinion for some peace of mind. I appreciate all responses...

What can I do next?

I agree with Dr. Shampain! He is in allentown, but well worth it. My 3 year old goes to him, as he was highly recommended by his ped.. I don't remember the wait being too extensive, but he is wonderful! So thorough! My son has a severe peanut allergy, and I have felt very comfortable with his treatment!

I've heard that Dr. Shampain is awesome! We actually have an appt for my son to see him too. HOWEVER, he has a waiting list about 3 miles long! I called a month ago & wasn't able to get in until November. There was a cancellation while I was talking to her, so I got in in August, but still! That's a LONG time!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the mean time---if you're formula feeding, it's likely the formula that's causing it. Many babies are very sensative to the milk proteins or soy proteins. If you're nursing though, then you can simply cut out some things from your diet that are more likely to be causing the issue. I'd start with all dairy and see what happens. If that doesn't help, cut out soy or wheat.

You may also want to try some organic/all-natural bath products (shampoo, lotion, etc...). The "mainstream" stuff is LOADES w/ harsh chemicals, some of which have a track record for being very dangerous.

I hope that your poor son gets some relief!

Just about 30 min from Pburg is a woman named Elaine Hardy, RN, MSN, APN, C she is EXCELLENT and specializes in treating children and treating them NATURALLY!! She is a nurse practitioner with her own holistic practice, here's her website www.holisticfamilyhealthcarepc.com. My whole family goes there and she helps us to find the CAUSE of our issues and fixes them, not just treat the symptoms, although she can prescribe medication if needed. She does an extensive history, read the patient testimonials on her website, they brought tears to my eyes!! Good luck to you!!

We see Dr. Shampain. He is in Allentown, and he is wonderful. He started my daughter on probiotics immediately as an infant and she does need a daily dose of zyrtec and she is 3 now. But he is great at managing allergies in kids. I even had him evaluate my son, who only has very mild allergies.

Hi J.,

Visit the web site for Alternative Medicine Doctors in your area.

www.acam.org

or www.acam.com

While you are getting an appointment. Check out your nearest health food store and get some infant pro biotics.

Good luck. D.

Yes go see Dr Ramikrishnan as the other mom recommended. My daughter has milk, egg, soy, peanut, wheat, cat, dog, & seasonal allergies & he got them under control. The staff is wonderful and carring, and Dr is very flexable. He has had us come directly in after/durring attacks to avoid ER and has worked with us to get our daughter on a routine that works for her. I don't know what we would do without that office.

Hi J., I live in P'burg and my son sees Dr. Ramakrishnan in Easton ###-###-####.His Pre-K teacher recommended him & I think he's fantastic. My son has seasonal & peanut allergies and before seeing this Dr it was uncontrollable but now he's doing a lot better. The staff is very warm and friendly.
