Seeking Affordable Babysitter or Daycare for a 4 Year Old Girl & 6 Year Old Boy

I am scheduled to move in my home in Riverdale after relocating from Chicago at the end of this month. I don't have much family in the Atlanta area and the few that I do have are distant relatives. My husband and I will need a weekend babysitter for our dates & sometimes during the week. Please help if you know any babysitter's who are affordable, lovable, & truly enjoys children who would be willing to babysit during the evenings on the weekend. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

Hi J.

My name is S. and I am starting an in home preschool for children 2 - 6 yrs old. My preschool begins on February 5th. I noticed you posted this a while back, but if you are still looking for care, I live in the Camp Creek Area let me know. I offer child centered curriculum and parent date nights amongst many other unique things. I live in the new Pulte homes behind Camp Creek Marketplace. If you have found care thats great! I know how you feel. I have a 2 year old daughter who I am also very particular about who watches her.

I hope all is going well for you.

Hope to hear back!

Hi J. I too am from Chicago and live in Atlanta. I am also looking for a babysitter. Why don't we pull together with other women in the area and have a babysitters club, where we watch one antoher's children. Don't know if you are interested, but the idea just hit as I decided to write to you. I have a fairly busy schedule, but usually on the weekends I am at home in the evenings. I go out every blue moon, so if you need a babysitter I wouldn't mind...S. atl

Don't get excited...I don't have a specific babysitter for you. I do have some experience to share, however.

I recently moved to Decatur from Acworth (only 35 miles but a world away) and after 6 weeks I'm still struggling with sitters. HOWEVER I have done some things that have been very helpful. I hope this eases your anxiety about finding quality childcare. It's out there it just takes time to cultivate!

1. Ask your neighbors, local business people (do you know any responsible teens?) etc for suggestions.
2. Go to the park during the day (you may find a stay-at-home mom who will swap babysitting or suggest childcare)
3. Go to church/synagogues (I think I misspelled that, sorry) and check bulletin boards
4. Visit local coffee shops and check out bulletin boards
5. Start a babysitter database in your neighborhood (you'll know ALL the good sitters!)
6. Check out Parent Magazing (available for free at most School Box stores, children's stores, grocery stores, etc.)
7. Be patient...someone in Riverdale will help soon!
