Seeking Advise on Hair Removal Treatments

Ever since having kids I have had an increase in facial hair. It has gotten to the point that I really need to address the issue. I'm not really very vain, but it is starting to have an effect on my confidence and I don't want to demonstrate that behavior to my (2) girls! Have thought about some of the more permanent treatments, like laser etc. but don't know where to start. Has anyone else experienced this and have any advise on treatments?

Hi J.!

I just started laser hair removal and I'm so pleased with it so far. It has made a big difference after just one treatment. The biggest problem though is that you are not allowed to pluck or wax in between treatments, which only leaves the option of shaving and I was always very leary of shaving my face for fear it would come in thicker. (You can't bleach either because the laser only works on dark hairs). I started with my face/chin and underarms and at my next appointment I am going to add the bikini line into the mix because I was so pleased with the results on the other areas.

I have it done at the medispa at my doctors office and the price is $75 for upper lip/chin or $150 for full face, $125 for underarms. You need at least 5 treatments for it to be permanent. I highly recommend it!

Hi,
Find a dermatologist. They have the equipment to take care of the facial hair permanently and the other parts of the body.

I have been dealing with facial hair my entire life! I just used to Jolen (facial hair bleach) but I started using VANIQA about a year ago. You need a perscription (Vaniqa.com) to get it. It's about $60 a tube and it will last a couple of months. It definitely works.

Hi J.,

I have done laser hair removal on my underarms, full legs, and extended bikini region. I have fair skin and dark hair (which they say sees the best results). I have had several treatments, probably around 9 or so thus far, and my leg hair has almost vanished (I shave a few hairs every other month), as well as my bikini area. My underarms were great until I got pregnant and although it's a little less, I have to shave again now (they won't treat you in pregnancy). My mom had her facial hair (and everything else) done as well and loved her results. She used Advanced Laser Centers and liked them - I used American Laser Centers and HATE them. The machines are fine, but the staff, rate of turnover, and lack of accomodation are horrible. So, basically I'm saying do laser - but not at American Laser Centers! ;)

I don't have experience with it (yet), but I've checked out Hair Today Gone Tomorrow. I am seriously considering it. It is permanent and they can do larger areas than with laser treatment. It is also non-invasive. Check out their website.
