Seeking Advice on Infant Formula Brands
Can anyone recommend an infant formula that causes less gas pains. We have tried Enfamil which caused gas pains and audible tummy gurgling and crying all day and frequently during the night. We are now on the Target brand of Enfamil which causes less of the same symptoms but still causes significant discomfort. Has anyone tried a formula that seems to cause less gas?

I found that Gentlease is a good for the gas but the best thing I've found is to use the Mylicon(or generic brand) drops in the bottle. It has been a life saver for us.

K.,
We have a 10 month old baby girl and I've used Baby's Only Organin dairy based formula since she was born. She has never had a problem with it, ever. The only draw back is that it's a little hard to find, Whole Foods carries it and Mother's does as well. The other is that it costs a bit more than the popular brands. I love it because it's organic and it doesn't have that terrible formula smell the others do. She is a happy healthy baby.

I had same problems with DS, who is now 3 yo, and used Nutramagen and now having same problem with DD and have her on Alimentum. I tried the Nutramagen with DD but she didn't like it. She's 8 months old now and still gets really gassy and also has reflux (on meds for it now) She still wakes up about 2 times a night because of gas & reflux so I'm hoping she will grow out of it soon. Both worked but both babies were still gassy but not as bad as before.
I also had a very low milk supply and eventually had to switch completely to formula with both.

Hi K.!
I had tried Enfamil but found that my son did not like it. We stayed with Similac, it was the one the hospital sent us home with and I never had a problem with it. I would buy it at Costco for a bigger size at a better price. However, test it first and see how your baby responds to it. Good Luck.

My son has the same problem, only he is strictly breastfed. I found out that he has a cow milk protein allergy. It stopped completely within hours of taking dairy of all types out of my diet. Consider a soy formula and try building up your milk supply by letting him use you as a pacifier. Even if he isn't hungry, let him suck. You were not very specific with the low milk supply, so maybe its not the advice you were looking for

Hi K.,
I'm a neonatal nurse & often run into babies having an intolerance to certain formulas. Carnation Good Start has "comfort proteins" that seem to be easily digested by a lot of babies. It is available at Target also. If that doesn't work, your little one may have a lactose intolerance. There are some excellent "lactose free" formulas also. Enfamil makes one. It will be on the big label. Good luck!
