Seeking Advice on 2.5 Month Old's Dry Skin

My little guy is 2.5 mos. old and recently he has developed little tiny bumps on his back, underneath his neck and on his little cheeks. I have applied aloe vera on these areas, but it hasn't taken them away, and now his skin appears very dry in these areas. Please help!
Thank you in advance.

So What Happened?™

I'd like to thank everyone for their much needed advice for my little guy. I ended up changing his formula, it's helped a lot, and I also moisturize his little body with coconut oil and olive oil (switching back and forth) they both seem to work well with each other.
Thanks so much.

Sounds like a rash. My daughterhas very sensitive skin. I have to use Dreft for wash and no dryer sheets or softner. Bath time and lotion only must use Aveno. Ive tried others and a rash will appear with a day or so. Good luck!!

Hi there. I have a little boy with similar issues and I went to the doctors office and he was diagnosed with a mild case of excema. She suggested after a bath, to apply a little hydrocortizone (1% over the counter)on the spots that are dry and in about two to three days it cleared up! From there, I now can just use a hypoallergenic moisterizer out of the bath with him still a little damp.

Hi C. - regarding your LO's dry skin, I wanted to let you know there's this online store that makes a product called Renew. It's completely amazing for dry skin and eczema and is safe for babies. It's 15.99 for 20 oz., but you only need a little to make it work and you don't need to constantly reapply. It cleared up my girlfriend's LO's eczema within 24 hours. Let me know if you want to know where to find it. (The lotion is good for diaper rash, too.) K.

I would try coconut oil, it is a natural alternative and do not bath everyday unless you are using a natural soap with NO ALCOHOL. Most soaps have alcohol in them to keep the bar from breaking down when wet. If you make your own soap and some natural bars do not contain the dry agents such as alcohol.
I make my own soap for my family as well as to sell. Consider learning how to make it, if you do not know how. It is so much better for you and your family.

Try Eucerin ointment. It worked great on my kids Ezcema.

when our son was young, he had severe eczema. the doctor recommended not giving him a bath every day, just wipe him off. also, they had us slick him up with vaseline. It really worked and was inexpensive. messy, but inexpensive.

Sounds like eczema. My 3 year old has battles with this all of the time. Our allergist recommended only Dove for sensitive skin, to wash with. After bath don't dry him off, first apply lotion, Eucerin works great. DON'T use Dreft, it has perfumes in it that will irritate his skin more. Use only All Free and Clear, or Tide makes a detergent that is free from perfumes, etc. We actually had to start using a steriod ointment and Zyrtec for flare ups. Visit an allergist if it doesn't improve.

I see many responded with Eucerin/Aquaphor, and a few Aveeno, etc. Just in case you try those and they still don't work--

The BEST we've found was California Baby brand - Calendula Cream. It's from Target, about $12 a jar but totally worth it.
My friend and I both have adopted Korean baby boys and swear by it. Asian children typically have very dry skin and many have excema (which both of our boys do). She spent $$$$ on all those other brands, one after the other, and even used cortisone cream and her boy still had rough scaly patches, bumps and severely dry skin. She finally tried the Calendula Cream and after a couple days it was almost gone!!! I was just starting to try the other brands when she told me about it, and I also bought the Calendula cream and am a believer! It's all natural and works like a charm!

We do not bathe our boys daily. I give our son a good bath every other day or sometimes every 3 days. In between, we make sure to always wash his hands well, wash his face and diaper area well. I apply the Calendula cream after every bath, and once a day before bed otherwise. It can also be used on diaper rash, cuts/scrapes, and on the face.

I haven't yet, but am going to try the California Baby body wash for his baths...and see if it's worth the extra care and bucks...

Hi, from Chicago mom of 3. If your little one is a little chunky (smile!!!) like mine are, they may overheat i'm having this problem with my 8 month old teething. Just apply gold bond baby powder or johnson's baby powder with cornstarch this will keep you little one dry. If the baby is irritable it may be a reaction to something this also sounds like an onset of eczema then see the dr.

My pediatrician recommended Cetaphil cream in jar. It worked great on my son's face and legs.
