Seeking a Playgroup in the Lee's Summit Area

I am trying to find a playgroup for my 14 month old son and to meet and make new friends in the Lee's Summit area. We will be moving there and arriving around Jan-2 from Northern VA, so i am unfamilar with the area and what's out there for this age group

What can I do next?

There is a great yoga place in LS called the Zen Zone- they have classes for the kiddos. Storytime yoga and yoga play that they sneak in yoga poses but it's all just a lot of fun and stories! They also have a lot of adult classes too for some needed mommy time! www.zenzoneyoga.com
The LS library has some story time days... there are some playgroups through the Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation, Kindermusik has a few classes, Gymboree, Parents As Teachers has a lot of events too. Let me know when ur in town, maybe we can hook up for some kids yoga...? I don't belong to a "playgroup" but some girls and I get together with kiddos often. It's a GREAT city, we just moved here a year ago and LOVE it! I have two boys, a 7 month old and a 2 year old. Good luck with your move :)

Have you ever been to a Gymboree Play and Music? They offer classes and your son can meet friends, you can meet friends and it is fun and safe.

There are lots of MOPS groups in the area or you might try Mothers and More...they have a website. My daughter is 18 months and I used to take her to Gymboree. This was great playtime for her. I don't go to Gymboree anymore, but we made a few great friends that we continue to play with on a weekly basis. Feel free to e-mail! Good luck with your move.

There is a MOPs group that meets at Holy Spirit Church -off of highway 150-(the group is mixed religion - we just use that church for the meeting space and gym) on the 1st & 3rd Thursday's of the month. My daughter (5 months) loves getting to play with other kids, and I get to interact with other moms in the area. We also meet weekly for playgroups, Moms day out, etc. I was new to LS too, and this helped me get to know all the kids places, plus meet other moms who could help with advice when i needed it. Hope that helps.
