My son is getting his hair cut for the first time this weekend and I want to take him some place special. Any suggestions on fun 'kids' hair care places in the Plano/Frisco & surrounding areas?

Hi there,

I take my kiddo to Snip Its...off 121 and Coit. We cut his hair until he was about 2 1/2. So, I was very nervous about how he was going react. They were great. Toys to play with while you wait and they give the kids a card for a toy when it's over. Each seat has a tv to play a short movie and there are cookies and suckers to appease the kids. He loves it and they do a really good job!

We love Snip-Its @ 121 & Ohio in Frisco. They have always been very patient with my son & are pretty quick with their haircuts.

i went to sharkeys cuts for kids in mckinney...went for a bang trim for my daughter and they cut over an inch off! her bangs are so short and she looks riduculous! like something out oof wizard of oz or charlie and the chocolate factory! and the lady started from the middle so it was too late to stop her/correct her! do not go there or be very very specific of exactly what a trim means to you!

You might try Cool Cuts 4 Kids on Park in Plano.

Cool Cuts for Kids inside Toys r us in Frisco. They have tv's and video games for them while they get their hair cut. You don't get the best haircut there (it's not that it is bad) it seemed to help get my son used to it and when he got older I started taking him to my hairdresser.

I took mine to Parker Square (Flower Mound)'s Kids Cutz. I am sure they have one by you. They are pricey but do a big deal about 1st cuts. They ahve a thomas train table, tvs at each station. My kids got to sit a either a taxi car chair or firetruck chair. They play batman cartoon for my 4 year old and Barney for my 2 year old while cutting thier hair. They also did exactly what I wanted. (I didn't want it short, but not bowl shape.. they did exactly what I wanted)
It was about $16 each though

Kids B Kids in the Tom Thumb Shopping Center on Independence and Parker. They have really fun stations for the children to sit in that look like cars or carousel horses, etc. They also get to pick a video to put in just for them. They're wonderful with saving a lock for you also.

We go to Cool Cuts for Kids on Frankfurt and Old Denton. It is the only place where we could get my son to get a haircut. We love it and the hubby goes there also!

Cool Cuts for Kidz HANDS DOWN (they only do kids and specialize in 1st hair cuts)!!! I would suggest going to the one in Flower Mound though over the one in Frisco. The one in Frisco is in Toys R Us (so that's just problems LOL) Plus we were there this past weekend and one of the steering wheels on the little cars they sit in was ripped off, so there my son was excited about getting to "drive" and they put him in the broken one =(. The one in Flower Mound is bigger, less stressful, and nicer. Plus they take a picture of your little one and give it to you in a frame with a lock of your baby's hair! They charge $16.95 which I think is a little pricey for a kids cut but definitely worth it!!

Good Morning! I started taking my son to Snippets (spelling?) off 121 and Ohio in Plano/Frisco.. It is in the shopping center outside of Sams Club. We started out at Sharkeys in McKinney off 121 and I found that Snippets had much better chairs for his wiggly 11 month old body and the sytlist took so much more time with cutting his hair and getting it just like we wanted it. One of the best things was they have things to help keep their attention while the stylist was at work... I blew bubbles and they had animal crackers...it was just a better experience overall.

hi J., i take my son to a place on independence and parker in the tom thumb plaza. i think it is called kids to kids or something. adults also can get theirs cut but it is centered around kids. what is neat about this place is that the chairs are designed as trucks, airplanes, i think a motor cycle, different things. and they center in front of a tv screen that plays a child friendly movie like cars. i have a hard time trimming my sons hair at home,,he wants to squiggle to much but their he is very still and enjoys it. another great thing is if you have to wait your turn they have a big wooden thomas train table and my son is crazy for thomas the tank engine, so they dont get bored. it is a little expensive, i think around 15 dollars but the stylists are great with the kids and the kids have a great experience. plus you get a coupon for your next visit. good luck. A.

Cool Cuts 4 Kids is good. There's one on Hebron and Old Denton in Carrollton ... if you look on-line or in the phone book, there's probably one closer to you, too. They have TVs with cartoons and toy cars for the kids to sit in while they are getting their hair cut. My son who screams when I cut his nails was fine with they did his hair, because he was so entranced by the cars and cartoons. If you mention its his first hair cut, they'll take a picture and collect the hair clippings to give to you. They also give out helium balloons, which is a big plus for my son.

My kids like Sharkey's at 121 and Custer. They have fun cars to sit in and they were the only ones that cut my son's hair (he's also 2) without him crying.
