Hi Mandi- I know you posted this a while ago, but if you haven't found a home church yet, try Lake Hills Church. Our pastor is an amazing motivational speaker, we have awesome music, child care is the best and we have tons of ways to get involved. I wasn't even a Christian when I started going last April and I loved it!

My fiance and I did this a few months ago. We tried several different churches before finding one we liked. We finally found Gateway and we LOVE it! The pastors are wonderful, the people are friendly and the service and message are always great. You should check it out. It is on McNeil just east of 183.

Hi M.,
There are two churches I love here in Austin and I am Christian. My home church is Trinity United Methodist and is not technically nondenominational but we are VERY diverse....moreso than any nondenominational church I've atteded. We are a reconciling congregation, which means we welcome gay and lesbian congregants and we have Buddhists, Catholics, Wiccan's, and agnostics among our congregation. We practice Creation Theology which is basically the belief that God reveals His/Her Self through nature and creativity or all kinds. Our services include a "witness in art" who shares God through their artform, whatever that may be. This church is at 600 E. 50th just off of airport and E. 51st (on the west side of I-35)

Another great non-denominational church is the LiveOak Church in NW austin off Salido. It's a wonderful group of people and they are more unitarian in nature, rather than Christian.

Good Luck! L.

M.,
I have been involved at Shoreline Christian Center for almost 7 years now and love it! I wasn't raised in a non-denominational church, I grew up Southern Baptist, but after I got married, that was the church we agreed on and have called it home ever since. My husband and I are both involved in the music ministry and our 17-month old twins go to the nursery and are well cared for.

There are services on Saturday night @ 6:00, on Sunday @8:45 & 11:00 and on Wednesday night @ 7:00.

Happy hunting!

I have gone to this church since 2003 and it has the best children's programs around. It has great small groups and education programs as well. And, you can drink coffee in the service! (and eat danish!). Bonus.

Gateway Community is wonderful! I've gone there for 5 years, (started when I first moved to Austin) and almost all of my friends are from there. It's got great pastors, great mission, great people, and a great kid's program.

It's a seeker church so Sunday sermons can sometimes be a little light, but they have classes (it's called Gateway U) you can take at night, as well as small groups to join that meet weekly or bi-weekly, to go deeper. My women's small group is very special to me. I highly suggest it!

God bless!

HI M.,

YOU SHOULD DEFINATELY CHECK OUT GATEWAY COMMUNITY CHURCH. IT'S OFF OF MCNEIL AND 183. THEY HAVE A GREAT PHILOSOPHY "NO PERFECT PEOPLE ALLOWED", IT'S A YOUNG, HIP CHURCH WITH THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE BEING BETWEEN 20 TO 40. LOTS OF FAMILIES WITH YOUNG KIDS. IT'S A VERY UPLIFTING CHURCH - YOU AND YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE IT!!!!

TAKE CARE

Our family attends the Fellowship at Forest Creek. It's in Round Rock off of Gattis School Road. The pastor has a great sense of humor and the sermons aren't watered down. It might interest you to know that there are only a few "paid" positions at this church (like for a couseling center they support), but the majority of people there (including the pastor and the children's ministry workers) are not paid - but volunteer their time in service.

Try out Shoreline Christian Center. It has wonderful connect groups, MOPS (moms of pre-schoolers)---we meet one Thursday a month for meeting, arts and crafts, moms night out once a month and plenty of field trips during the month, free childcare, women's bible study. It is awesome.
