Seeking a Great General Practitioner
I'm relatively new to the area and am looking for a great family practice doctor for my husband and I. We've been to the clinic at Forest Park Hospital twice and are not impressed. We live in South city, near Hampton/Chippewa. Any referrals appreciated. Thanks!

My entire family goes to Dr. Larry King at Southwest Medical Center. My husband went to him as a teen and then I started to go to him when we got married. Not long after, my pasrents, my husband's parents, my brother and my sister have all switched to him. He is very professional and we can always get in to see him at the last minute when needed. His office is closed on Thursdays. He is located at Watson and Laclede Station. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck in your search!

Dr. O'Neil or any one in the Southwest Pediatrics Practice. I love them and it's right next door to you.

Hi A.,
Welcome to the neighborhood. We too live in the same area. We have two boys (3yrs and 3 months). Our children see the doctors at Clayton Pediatrics. It's a two-doctor practice. The female doctor is Ryia Ross and the male doctor is Andrew Zuckerman. Both are great. Our oldest loves Dr. Zuckerman, he's very funny with the kids.
When our oldest was a baby I heard everyone rave about the doctors at the Children’s Clinic. Great doctors, yes...but I after a year I was upset with a few things. He only saw his doctor on well visits. When he was sick we would see a nurse practitioner, not even another doc in the practice. I did like his doctor, I thought she was very animated and great with him. What I didn't like was when she did see him she was in an out the door so quick I barely had time to ask my questions. I kept saying to myself, if god forbid I did need her, she would be there for us. Thankfully, my son is a healthy boy. There was a point where he was having a bad month with something and I just felt she wasn't doing all she could to help us. Honestly, I felt like she didn't have the time for us. She didn't offer suggestions and I was really worried about his condition. A good friend of mine goes to Clayton Pediatrics and for the past 2 years we have found our experience to be perfect. They help to ease my worried parent mind. They definitely take the time to hear my questions and I love that my kids are seen by the same two doctors. We don't have to deal with strangers every visit. They are very personable and helpful.
Sorry for the rant, but I think it's important to know how different practices run their business.
Best of luck in your search.
S.
