I have asked this question in the past and received a few responses. But my account messed up and I can't find them anymore. My oldest son has recently expressed a desire to learn more about God. I would like to find a church that I can take him and his 4 year old brother to. I need one though close to FW that has a great children's program and experience in Autism. We have tried a couple, but they've been really big and that's too overwhelming for him. So we need someplace sort of the medium to small size. Can anyone give me suggestions of some churches for us to try out and see if we can find us a church home? Any help is very appreciated!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all the responses! I have emailed several of the churches and looked through websites. I am going to start visiting them soon and see what I think! My only trouble now is trying to decide which one to visit first next Sunday!

Ditto to Christ Chapel. It is a wonderful Bible Church and has a very warm and inviting congregation. They have a wonderful Women's Bible study that meets either on Thursday morning from 9:45-11:45. They provide free childcare for your children and even let them stay until 1:15 if you want to go have lunch with some of the women. It gives you a chance be with other women and for your children to interact with other children. It also meets on Thursday night. We have been attending for about two years and love it. It is a very nurturing church and they are there to support you. It is located on I-30 and Montgomery Street. We hope you will visit. I think you will find that it isn't as large as it appears.

Although not in FW, it's really close, depending on what part of FW you are talking about, we LOVE LOVE LOVE Keystone Church on Keller Parkway in Keller. It's the first church (and I've been to several) that I've actually LOVED going to and the main reason we first liked it is because of its childcare and kids programs. We also like that its a young church and most of its members are around our age (30s) with other ages too but most of it is younger. It's small but growing quickly but still on the small side. keystonechurch.com.

I'm not sure if I posted this to the right person, so I'll write it again. My church, First Baptist Church of Ft Worth, has an awesome children's ministry which has had experience with children who are challenged. We had an autistic child and a child with Down's Syndrome whom could not speak at all. We have children's church, which ministers very well to young children. The web site is www.fbcfw.org, if you would like to check it out.

We attend North Ft. Worth Baptist Church--right off of 820 and I-35W. It is not too big and not too small.

Hi, R.. I hope you can visit Christ Chapel Bible Church. They have a terrific childcare staff and have capable special needs folks ready and willing to share the Lord with those children. The church is on the northwest corner of Montgomery and I-30. The website is www.ccbcfamily.org

R.,

Our Children's Minister has a son with autism as well. She does great with all the kids, but it is a very small program. There are approximately 25 children of all ages on any given Sunday. My daughter is almost 4 and so would be in the same class with your younger guy. Those little pumpkins do all sorts of great activities to learn about how they are loved by God. We also have recently formed 2 groups for parents. We do a seminar once each month to talk about gentle discipline, nutrition, etc. The other group is more social. In that we have family game nights and bible study. It is Trinity Episcopal Church. Here is a link to the website.

Gateway is a fabulous church and although the Southlake campus is quite large, the North Richland Hills campus is much smaller. My kids LOVE the programs there. They would go daily if possible. Many groups to get involved in. It just felt like home the first time we went.

I'm not sure where in FW you live, but I attend First Baptist Church of Keller. It's off Keller Parkway, and 377/Denton HWY. Our Pastor's daughter has Autism, and we have a group of individuals who minister to these children. (It's called the special needs ministry). All persons have a criminal background, and the children's department is the very best. The church may seem big, but it doesn't feel that way. They have three service's b broken down to make you feel comfortable, and several SS class' to choose from. Everyone is very friendly, and will make you feel at home. We have a fall festival coming up, and it's a lot of fun. Here is the email address; www.fbckeller.org
I hope you find the church your family has been looking for, God Bless you and your little ones!

Check out Bethel Church in White Settlement. It's a small church and it's actually still in the start up stages, but it's 100% designed and devoted to special needs families. One of the co-pastors has a son with Autism. They are great people. http://bethelfellowship.blogspot.com/

Hi R., \

I would love for you to visit our church. We are on the smaller side, with an average of 250 on a Sunday morning. We have a very active children's ministry and we do have experience working with children with Autism. While I was the children's minister (I have since retired), we had a boy in the children's department with Autism who has grown up there. He is WONDERFUL and has grown and learned so much! He is now in our youth and really loves coming to church. He goes to camp every year and loves being a part of our church family.

You can check out our website at: www.springdalebc.com
If you want to come by, message me that you are coming. I would love to meet you out front and show you around! 3016 Selma Street, Fort Worth, 76111.

I'm not sure abotu their experience with autism but my church is awesome! It is medium sized and they have 2 services with childrens programs in both hours. I attend the 11:00 service while my 2 year old is in his class. Having 2 services keeps the class sizes small but the church is big enough that they have plenty of childrens programs and activities. It is called Trinity Chapel Bible Church. it is located near Hulen just off of South West Blvd in south west Fort Worth. Feel free to call me for more info ###-###-####. I would love for you to be my guest one morning! They also have a website http://trinitychapelbc.org/
I think you will love it. Is so easy to get plugged in there.
