Searching for a Quiet Swing

I am needing advice on swings. I currently have the "frame swing" from Graco. Basically it is just a frame that you snap your Graco Snugride into...I thought this is a great idea, but in reality it is like have a cement mixer in my bedroom the nights I have my daughter in it (she only goes in it when she is totally congested from teething. Does anyone have a swing they like that is on the quiet side? I know none are totally silent, but there has to be something out there that is not as loud. My daughter is only about 16 lbs so I know I have atleast until 30lbs to use a swing as that is the weight limit for most. Any advice would be great!

What can I do next?

We absolutely love the Boppy swing. It's a small compact one, so you can take it to any room and not feel like it's an eye sore... They have a few versions, but we have the beige colored one. You can get it at Buy Buy Baby. It has a 30 minute or 15 minute timer and music. Oh and it's totally silent if you don't use music!

At 9 months old you are asking for trouble if you put her in a swing to sleep, even if it's only once in a while. Changes in the regular pattern, especially once they are old enough to be aware of them, can totally mess up the sleep schedule. I would suggest just retiring the swing and maybe try some baby Tylenol or one of the herbal teething medicines (one that does not contain belladonna, like Boiron Camilia) the next time she has teething pain. I have also never heard of teething causing congestion. This sounds more like a cold to me. http://www.boironusa.com/products.aspx?pageid=14&pcat...

We have the Fisher Price rainforest swing (the full-size one). It actually doesn't take up that much room and the only noise it makes is a little white noise that seemed to just put our son to sleep. (It's not silent, but I would never say it sounded like a cement mixer, so it must be quieter than the Graco.) He couldn't swing in it for more than a few minutes without going to sleep. I'm not sure what the weight limit is, but I'd go to Babies R Us and look at what they have. They're all on display, so you can turn them on and see how they sound. If they sound loud in the store, they'll sound even louder at night when it's quiet.
Good luck.

We had a Fisher Price swing that was ok, it would make little clicking sounds when it went back and forth. Even though the weight limit might be 30 lbs., swings can slow down as your baby grows and can stop moving if she moves or squirms. That's what this one did, and we stopped using it when she got close to 20 lbs. for that reason.

Check out the customer reviews of different swings on Amazon.com, people post really good detailed reviews so that's the first place I go before I buy anything these days.

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but get her out of that swing. At this age they are developing sleep patterns and she won't learn how to put herself to sleep and she isn't getting a "good" sleep with motion. Ever fall asleep in a car? Did you feel rested after that or did you feel more tired? Try and put our baby to sleep in a crib or co-sleeper or else you will regret this decision later on. If you must put her in a swing the Fischer Price one is not noisy, but I think they all have some sort of noise. Good luck!

We had the fisher price ocean wonders travel swing. It was very quiet, as long as you didn't turn on the music. It also had adjustable settings, so you could have it fast or slow. The faster it went, the louder it got. I don't think they make the ocean wonders line anymore, but the rainforest one...probably still have the travel swing.
