Seamstress to Recreate a Swimsuit

I found the perfect swimsuit, but it is sold out in my size everywhere. I want to have a seamstress recreate it for an upcoming trip. I was thinking someone who had experience designing dance or ice skating or, maybe, pageant wear might be able to do this. I want it to be of very good quality and look just like the swimsuit I wanted. Does anyone know of a seamstress who could do this? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Goggle the local big wig theater and find out who the head costumer is. They are REALLY good are sewing or know someone who is. The arts are being underfunded and I guarantee that someone needs the extra cash.

Have you look up the store you are purchasing the swimsuit from? Maybe they have it online. Or google the name of the swimsuit, maybe other stores carry it and you can order one in the correct size instead of trying to alter one.

Well first of all I would look online before I resorted to having someone else "create" it for me. However if you must do it that way for obvious reasons then I think I would go to your local sewing store. I love Joann's, Michael's isn't that great they are more for "crafty" things and I think the last time I went there they didn't even sell patterns or the fabric anymore!!! I can sew myself but I am not professional by any means and alot of times I get frustrated and give up-lol! I do the basics like sewing up pants into capri's for my twin girls. Anyways back to what I was going to say if you go to Joann's you might ask around go over to the counter where the ladies cut the actual fabric and ask them. They I'm sure know of someone since they cut the fabric all day long for customers. Next I would try your local highschool home ec department. I took sewing classes throughout my high school career and then some catering so I knew just about everyone who had dealings with the home ec department. One of the substitute teachers who was also a classmates mom who often subbed for the home ec teacher made my prom dress...I kept in contact with her after I graduated and she altered my wedding dress. Anyways the home ec department might just know of someone. I see you are in marietta. I went to Harrision High. Ms Hood was the home ec teacher there at the time. The lady's name I was referring to was Kathy Bates (no not the actress either-lol) I don't have her contact info anymore and I do not even know if she still sews anymore but her daughter is on my facebook account and if you truly are interested in finding out about her I will contact her daughter and see what happens. Just PM me.

The Mom at one of the blogs I read makes them. I'm not sure if she sells them, I think she does. You could try contacting her. It seems like she makes quality items...

Hi CS,

There's a small store in my town that makes custom made bathing suits and even bras. Their website is http://www.barelyvisible.com/
I haven't had anything made there but my sister has and she said they are wonderful to work with.

Hope this helps!
