Seamstress in the Area???
Heya Mama's!!
I am currently looking into the idea of having my gown made and possibly a shirt for my hubby for our vow renewal ceremony. We are wanting to do the renaissance theme, but the gowns are sooooo EXPENSIVE! I have looked into "costumes" per se and most of them look SOOO cheaply made, I don't want to wear them for our ceremony. Does anyone know of a good seamstress or do any one of you sew? There may even be other things come up in the next couple months (like the bridesmaids dresses if we do the renaissance theme). I will most likely end up not doing the theme (although it would be fun) but following any kind of "theme" seems to add up the money on everything if you know what I mean! I am trying to keep this simple.
Even if we don't do the theme ceremony, I may still want to have my gown made. I am just wanting something very simple, classic, and elegant and it seems sooo silly to pay outrageous amounts of money for it just because it is labeled a "wedding dress". The gowns I have been drawn to are the simple sheath type gowns with empire waists and bell sleeves, also with the veil/train attached to the back of the dress (not long though, just mostly there for 'effect' I guess you could say) If anyone has any ideas of who could do a wonderful job on a dress such as this one, please let me know! I would greatly appreciate the info as november will be here soon enough, especially if someone is sewing my gown.
thanks in advance ladies!!!
Hugs

Hi H.!
I have a seamstress I've used since high school. She's done my prom dresses, formal dresses for college, my wedding dress, and some of my bridesmaids dresses. She lives in Plano, and she is very, very reasonable. She does it out of her home. Her name's Fran, and her number is: ###-###-####. Good luck!

OMG- what size are you? My mother made me this BEAUTIFUL renaissance dress. It is dark red with cream lace; I wore it for a custom on Halloween. She looks for reasons to make anything... she made my bridesmaids dress with satin and a corset tops. Gorgeous!!
If you are a size 4 or 5 you can use it!! Even if your not a size 5, I'd bet she'd be glad to make you one. She can use the same pattern but the color fabric you want!
I'll take some pictures of it or scan the pics from Halloween and I can e-mail them to you.

I would recommend Mary's Dressmakers in Garland, she is an expert seamstress and is very reasonable. She's done alterations for me and built the bustle for my wedding dress.

Hi H....my name is D.. It is nice to meet you. I wanted to respond to your request after reading that one of your children has bipolar disorder. My 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with that almost two years ago. We have our ups and downs for sure, but I was wondering if you might have any good suggestions on how I can get my daughter to take her medications like she needs too. She complains about the way they make her feel all the time and that she doesn't like to take them. Can you give me some advice on this? I hope to hear from you soon. I hope that you find what you are looking for with your renewing of your vows ceremony. Thank you for your time.
D.
