Scratches on Stainless Steel
Does anyone know how to get scratches out of stainless steel? Our refridgerator is stainless steel and our kid's magnet games have scratched it badly. The fridge is only a year old, too! Any advice!?

You might try a wonderful (and inexpensive) product that has been around for many years: Barkeepers Friend. You can get it at Walmart in the powder form (sort of like Comet Cleanser) or in a soft liquid form. It cleans stainless cookware and other items like a dream and will not scratch. It may be just what you are looking for, and you won't be out much $$ if it doesn't work. I use it all the time and keep a can in every bathroom, as well as under the kitchen sink. I read about it in a wonderful email 'column' called "Cheapskates" and have been a loyal user ever since. MBest

I use something called Bar Keeper's Friend, it's a powder cleanser. I get it at Schnucks. I've used it on scratches on the fridge and to restore my stainless steel pots and pans. It polishes scratches and discolorations out. I love it and recommend it to everyone I meet with this problem. It even gets out rust stains on stainless steel sinks. Good luck!!

I don't know, but if you can hold out a few more weeks you'll probably have an ultrasound around 9 or 10 weeks

My mom had a stainless steel fridge that got scratched by a workman in her home. She told me that it was scratched for good and never could get it repaired. Sorry! I hope you find some other advice, though!

I'm glad you asked this. I just keep hanging things over the scratches. A calendar here, a poem there...

Brush stainless steel comes in various finishes. No. 3 and No. 4 are typical. These finishes are hard to repair when scratches appear. Another brush finish is the HairLine finish. The advantage of this finish is that the grain is continuous and runs the length of the sheet. The importance of continuous long grain HairLine finish is to allow for repair of minor scratches. One can easily repair scratches using the proper grit 80-120 abrasive pads or sandpaper and sand the length of the grain until the scratches are removed.

Try softscrub with a damp plain sponge.
