School Troubles

My daughter is in 3rd grade and this month has been the hardest month of school so far for any of us. I got a call a couple weeks ago telling me that my daughter had lice but they were sending her home on the bus anyway. I was told to treat her and bring her back to get checked out the next day before class. I did treat her with an OTC medication, treated everything and took her to school the next morning. The nurse checked her and said that she had too many nits and that I had to take her home and comb them all out before she could release her to class. I personally saw nothing but took her home and combed her hair a million times anyway. She rechecked her at noon that day and said she could go to class. About 1 week later I get a call to come get her because she has lice again. I was then told I should take her to the Dr. to get an RX for it. I asked if they were checking all the kids since I know more than one had to have it. I was told no that if she did that it would be all she got done. I asked her if there was anything better than all the chemicals to get rid of them. I was told NO and that it had to be either OTC or RX to work. So upset I took her to the dr. and waited for hours. When we got to the exam room the nurse looked and said she saw NOTHING. The nurse practioner said she didn't see anything live and if she had them it was a very mild case. She wrote a RX anyway, just in case. I took my daughter home and scrubbed her hair with tea tree shampoo, Head and Shoulders, and Coconut shampoo then slathered in the conditioner. THEN I used liquid hand sanitizer on her and her hair brush knowing it kills the adults atleast if there were any. She went back to school yesterday and the teacher had sent her to the nurse 1st thing to be rechecked but no one had mentioned that to me while I was there or even a phone call.

But a couple weeks ago my duaghter came home with bruises on her arms. I asked her where she got them but got I DON"T KNOW. That's her answer for everything anymore. I let it go thinking she'd come to me and tell me eventually. I was talking to her grandma a few days later and she told me that she was told by my daughter the teacher had picked her up by her arms and put her in her chair. So I then asked my duaghter and got the same story. After calming down a bit I emailed the principal because getting in to talk to her is like finding a needle in a hay stack but have received no response. If I don't get a response by tomorrow I am going to attempt to make her find time to talk to me since I have lunch duty anyway.

Any advice for a MAD MOMMA?

What can I do next?

I would have been there the moment I found out my daughter was touched and injured by a teacher. If you don't hear from the principal by today, then go down there first thing in the morning. If you don't get anywhere with the principal, then as soon as you leave the school, call the superintendent.

Good luck! I hope you find some resolution!

A teacher is not allowed to lay her hands on a student in any way and if I were you (with a child that came home bruised at the hands of a teacher) I would be in there threatening a law suit THAT QUICK.

(The lice stuff is just irritating.)

I would also be shopping for a new school immediately, or consider homeschooling. I CERTAINLY wouldn't send my child back to an abusive teacher.

I would make an appointment to talk to the principal in person. Clearly emails and phone calls are not working.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time of it.

Head Lice we dealt with that last year I had the flu and was due w/ baby in just days.So anyway I did wash everyones hair although it was on one child but found 1 live bug on another then my other child I did it anyway took off all the bedding washed them for days on end plus vacuumed bedding couch floors etc this lasted for a week or so.I rewashed their hair again after 48 hrs to make sure it was taken care of.I do know that the nurse sends notes home, and checks all students randomly during the year for head lice.I was so upset my kids had to go through this but I do know of a family that they have it case after case and it was going like wild fire through the school at that time. There are OTC non toxic treatments but I didn't try them I had to get rid of them fast in my home.I have heard of olive oil do it as of your coloring her hair and combin it as you go then tie it up put a shower cap on and let them drench suffercate then recomb wash andrepeat when needed but if hey didn't die that way I would use the RID X.
The teacher I would call a meeting for sure and have your daughter there t tell the story the way it was and let the teacher speak on her behalf all with the principal

When having lice you don't just treat the persons head that has it. You treat the entire house. Anything they have been on and you also want to check everyone in the house. My boys got it when my youngest was under a year old man was I ticked. They bright it home from the baby sitters house and gave it to the entire family. The school should be checking more than just one student. I know I got a note home last week saying to check my child's head as there was someone in his class that had it. Luckily he has a buzz cut so it makes it a lot easier. It sounds like you may need to go to the superintendent if you don't get anywhere with the principle. That's not ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the lice thing go and be concerned about the bruises. Either it was flat-out inappropriate and wrong, or there was some kind of reason for it (e.g., a beyond out-of-control tantrum, endangering the safety of another kid), but you should have been notified. If you have to, sit in the office and don't leave. If that doesn't work, threaten to get a lawyer. You need to know what happened there.
