School Supplies - The Colony,TX
Does anyone know who to contact, or where to go, for help with school supplies. Trying to help someone, who may not be able to go and buy everything she needs, for her three kids. Recently they've aquired alot of medical bills, and I know she could use the help. She has so much on her plate, I don't want it to be another thing she has to worry about.
Thanks!

I would talk to the counselor at the school they attend. The school I work at always has extra supplies on hand for kids who need them.

There are local agencies that can help that are funded partially by United Way. They are geographically based. For example, if your friend lives in Allen, Lucas or Fairview, they could use Allen Community Outreach - www.acocares.org. You could even call ACO and find out which agency serves her city. ACO does a huge school supply drive and I would imagine that the other organizations do too. Good luck!

Frisco Family Services center holds a school supply drive each year and you can sign up with their organization to receive the supplies... K. d

If you want to personally help. I am sure you can call the school and tell them you would like to buy school suplies for this specific child. When my daughter went to kinderguarten I wanted to buy more suplies to help since they are so cheap before school (crayons $.20 glue $.20 paper $.10 etc). The back pack and lunch box are the most expensive. I went to Walmart told them I wanted to buy supplies for 2 other children. I think they gave me a $20 gift certificate to help me out and was tax deductable. But I did need to show the schools tax id number. Remember you can right it off as a donation on your taxes!! The money you spend is not as much as what it sounds like they need. It sounds like they would really appreciate it. L.

Walmart usually has the supply lists for all the schools in that area. They are usually up front when you first walk in.
What a wonderful friend you are! She is very blessed.

I don't know what area you are in but Christian Community Action in Lewisville gives out school supplies and clothes every year.
