I would like to send lunch this year but I also want to make it healthy and not boring or repetitive. What have you sent for school lunch before that really gets eaten and not trashed? Thanks for all advice!

Go Bento!!

I do Bento boxes for my kids with cupcake liners as dividers. Diced ham, diced turkey, cheese, crackers, raisens, carrots, etc etc. They love it because they get a variety of foods in one lunch, just small portions.

How about....

the squeezable yogurt

fruit cups (mine like the mandarin oranges and pineapples)

fruit snacks (costco has the new fruit yogurt snacks that may be a little healthier)

granola bars

juicy juice

graham crackers (keebler makes the graham cracker sticks)

Just a few suggestions...

Hope this helps!

Turkey Wraps

4 slices pre-cooked bacon
1 tsp. olive oil
2 10-inch flour tortillas
1/2 pound deli sliced turkey breast
2 slices cheddar cheese

Warm bacon according to package directions.

Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat.

Lay turkey breast and one cheese slice on half of each tortilla. Top with bacon slices. Roll up like a fajita, folding the bottom up to secure.

When oil is hot, lay turkey wraps, seam side down in the skillet. Cook 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook another 1-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is browned.

peanut butter sandwich rolls
4 slices white bread
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup apple butter
1/4 cup. raisins
Using a rolling pin, roll each slice of bread several times to make it flatter and more pliable. Trim crusts.

Spread two tablespoons of peanut butter on each slice of bread. Top with one tablespoon of apple butter and some raisins.

Roll up sandwiches jelly-roll style. Cut into rolls and serve.

I liked to do chicken dippers last year. I would just cook extra boneless skinless chicken breasts and then cut them up into "sticks" and then send her with a package of ketchup, some pretzels, or crackers, and go-gurts, raisins, juice boxes, etc.
I also did of course sandwiches, and sometimes as a treat, buy her a lunchable. Those are great for the days when you forget to make a lunch, or you're in a hurry. I've also sent her with tupperware full of soup, or leftovers. Plastic containers are also great b/c they don't get trashed, which saves on waste for the environment.

They are still young to not worry about toting the lunchbox- you are in luck! My dgt didntlike sandwiches- so..... I bought a real small thermos and sent her in with soup! She loved it! Veggies and dip is another good one! If I had leftover stew or pasta- I wuld heat that and send it in the thermos as well!
