this is driving me crazy too -- i know that if you dont heat it its, fine, but still! i bought born free bottles for my 4m old (and primarily breastfeed anyway). it was easy enough for me to grab that one and pay the extra money. YET i realized i'm filling them with poland spring water, which comes in plastic bottles! we're slowly starting her on baby food now, and guess what -- i bought the gerber organic (again, easy enough to grab that one and pay the extra money) -- but its also in plastic container! i feel like i'm doing everything so half-a$%! frustrating!

Born Free bottles are the best on the market as per an article in the Bergen Record a few months ago. Avent does not make glass, but are to be on the safest side if you stick with plastic.

E., don't know if you found what you were looking for, but I wanted to share two sites I found when researching BPA info:
http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2008/02/z-report-on-bpa-in-infa...
and http://thesoftlanding.wordpress.com/
Both were very useful in helping me decide what bottles to use for my (almost) three month old. (I ended up choosing Green to Grow b/c I needed an option that was compatible with my Medela breast pump and was also compatible with different nipples that are good for nursing babies - their nipples have too fast of a flow for my little one.)

You don't need to buy glass bottles. Dr. Brown's bottles are BPA free and they also reduce gas and colic!

I too was going to switch to glass and went to Babies R' Us. I found out that Dr. Brown's just came out with BPA free plastic bottles. They are not clear and they are a lot thicker.

Dr. Brown bottles are not bpa free. However, Dr. Brown does make a glass bottle & will be coming out with bpa free plastic bottles sometime soon. Walmart sells Parent's Choice bpa free bottles for $2.96 for a 3 pack, which work with the Dr. Brown inserts. That is what I have switched to.
My blog has a couple of posts on the topic with links to bpa free info. You are welcome to check it out:

Born Free bottles. You can order th glass one online at Babies r us I think you can also go to their direct website which you'll have to google because it's different from the name of the bottle. We use the plastic ones which have no PVCs or nay other harmful chemicals.
