I got one of these for a present. Just curious if anyone has used one and can recommend what food to put in it. I am clueless. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I've heard of people using them with things liek ice cubes or fresh fruits and vegetables. Anything that will sort of mush up as they chew on it.

Well, if i remember correctly, that is the little hand-held self feeder with a mesh bag ontop, right? If so, what i used to put in there was a piece of banana, or a slice of a fresh peach. You can put anything in there that you'd like them to eat, but are worried that they may choke on. Like, put a segment of an orange in there. They'll be able to get the nutrients and the flavor, but not the skins! It really is a neat little gadget. I found that it helps with teething too...put a frozen peach slice in there, and they'll go to town on it! I hope this helped! My youngest is 3 1/2 now, but i've got one due in July! ;)

I have some of these also. I got them as a gift. My daughter's a little young for them, but my sister used them for both of her daughters. She says that frozen fruit is the best thing to put in it. When it started to thaw and get messy, she'd replace it with another frozen piece of fruit. I plan to try that when Adelae is old enough.

Larua, We had one and I LOVED it. Depending on what you daughter is eating here are some ideas about what to put in it.

Strawberries, frozen blueberries (or any other frozen fruit), carrots, apple slice, peach slices.... that is all I can think of right now. It was great for my son whent he was teething and the frozen stuff really helped his gums feel better.

Good Luck

I used it for my son starting when he was about 7 or 8 months old. He was done with it after a couple of months when he got all his teeth in. I would give him cooked veggie's or fresh fruit in it. He loved it but it was very messy. I found it hard to clean but it does well in the dishwasher top rack.

Hi L.,

I used one and they are great. It has the mesh? If so I used to put fresh fruit in it so that my daugter could have fresh fruit. That is mainly what I used it for. Hope it helps.

We used one for my daughter (who's now 3) and she LOVED it! It was the coolest thing. I didn't use it so much as a teether, but more so she could enjoy foods that she would normally choke on. We put cantelope, honeydew, watermelon and apples in it. Whatever fresh fruit was in season. I have an 8 week old son now, too, and we've already purchased one for him when he's old enough to use it :)

ANYTHING fresh or frozen! Eli loves loves LOVES strawberries in them. I cut them in a few pieces, put him in a diaper on a blanket outside and let him go at them. It makes for great pictures:) Frozen things are good for when they are teething and having pain. I keep one in the diaper bag for when we are eating away from home so he can have some of whatever we are having. Fruit, veggies, meats, everything! The juicier and smushier the better.

We have one, and my son just loves it. We've put pieces of banana in it for him, and cooked sweet potatoes. Also, for his teething, we freeze cubes of baby pear juice in a small ice tray, and when he wants to chew on something, we put one of those juice/ice cubes into it and give it to him. Of course, it requires a bath afterward, but he eats the whole thing and it definitely calms him down!

I always put fresh or frozen fruits in them. Really anything that I could fit into it. Sometimes just an ice cube makes their gums feel better. It's a great snack time thing. When you give them a piece of orange for example they can sit in the high chair and go to town and you don't have to worry about them choking on anything. I thought it was great.

They are great for all kinds of fruit. I used to put apples and strawberries in the most. Make sure if you are putting in something staining that they're in their high chair with a bib. A little mess is well worth the fun they have and see thier eyes light up when they get to taste something new.

The answer depends on how old your baby is. If they are just starting out on fruits, then pop a few cubes of a fresh pear in, or older and safely tested a variety of fruits then mix it up in the same serving. Sometimes to freeze them after you chop them is nice and comforting to the teething baby. I used it years ago for about any snack my daughter was old enough for and it kept her busy, entertained, comforted her with coldness and or texture of the mesh, plus fed her so I could fold laundry or watch the news....whatever. Crackers to cheese to fruit to cooked veggies or a fun combination of whatever solid foods that he/she is ready for. Some frozen some not (cheese cube)....

Have fun!!
