Safety Commission
Hello Mamas!
I'm starting a new home business of making Baby accessories items. I will like to move my business to a new level and sell to boutiques in the area. I want my products to be in line with the law and will like someone to check it for safety concerns. I don't know where to go or who to ask. Please help!!

I think you're seeking the Consumer Product Safety Commission. It is part of the federal government.

You should also talk to your state government's consumer agency as well. Ask if there is a way to get products inspected. Also, they should be able to tell you about how to register your business with them, licensing, etc.
Good for you for putting safety first. Nothing can damage a business like a recall due to a child being harmed by a product. Good luck with your business.

Look up "New lead and Phalate laws"
Congress passed a new law in 2009.
Basically you need to make sure you can get a CPSIA certificate for every different material you are using to make something
Example:
Hair Bows
-Ribbon
-Clippie
-Rhinestone
-anything you ad to a product intended for age 12 and under
Good Luck!!
