Safe Apartment near Texas Instruments.

Hi fellow mothers!

My husband began working for Texas Instruments today, and we want to move as close to it as possible. We are looking for an apartment. Safety is our main concern when moving to the 635/75/Skillman/Forest/Audelia area from a quiet Mesquite community. If any of you live in that area, any advice on the safest neighborhoods (apartment communities) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

What can I do next?

Hi, A....
I don't mean to cause alarm for you or your family, but I do recommend you do some research on the neighborhoods surrounding TI. I know of several families that have developed severe health problems living near TI. There have been issues regarding water contamination and toxic vapors, and in interviewing residents, many voice concerns...there is an above average percentage of cancer in those neighborhoods. I understand you will want to check this out yourself. My advice would be to interview the residents yourself. Most of them are more than willing to talk about their living situation. I wish you luck...

HI! I live with my bf who works for Texas Instruments and we live just 1min from TI. We live in the Reflections of Highpointe, there are the St. Andrews as well...I have not had any problems the past 7mths I have lived there so I would say it is pretty safe and also very close to walk to TI. LEt me know if you want more info! :)

Hi A.,
I used to live near Forest/Audelia in a private gated community of condos called One Orleans Place (11655 Audelia Rd). I always felt pretty safe there (a little oasis), although some of the apartments around there aren't the best (the police dept is working day and night to clean the neighborhood up and it's definitely improving). What price range and size are you looking for? I know a lot of people in my former community and many of them rent or offer rent-to-own. We had to move because I now have two little boys (age 1 and 3) and needed some more space. Let me know if you're interested and I can do some checking around.
Best regards and best of luck,

J. C.

My cousin lives in The Falls off of Markville and Greenville. He really likes the area, which is almost all Dallas Art Institute students. I've also noticed that the complex is really well patrolled. I don't know that you can live in The Falls because it may be reserved for the art institute's students, but there are other complexes on either side of it.

I used to live in the Village (The Green Apartments) and loved it. There are a lot of college kids but families as well. You can spend as much or as little as you'd like. It is beautifully landscaped and lots of GREAT walking trails....can take Lovers Lane or Caruth Haven off of 75. I believe their website is www.thevillage.com.

Hi A.,

I live a little south of where you are looking. I am down near NW Hwgy and Easton--- by the police station!

Anyway- you want to stay FAR FAR away from the apartments on and near Audelia and Forest. They are unsafe, drug infested... just on the news for shoot outs!

The village area on the south side of 75 and NW higway is good- it is across from Half Price books... but they can be a bit pricey. The Vickery Meadows places there are right across the street- they run from NW Highway to Abrams/Skillman... Yucko!

There are some decent places at 75 and Greenville- right across from resteraunt row- you know Olive Garden, Red Lobster etc...

Also, check the places on 75 and Walnut Hill- next to Toys R Us... um, Glen Lakes.

You may want to call the Dallas police at the Northe East substation and speak with their community liason. They can give you GREAT advice about safe communities!

Hope this helps. Feel free to e-mail w/ any other questions!

St. Andrews off of 75 and Greenville is a good one...
