Review of Plano Presby for Delivering Baby

Both of my kids were born at Plano Presby. I loved my experiences there! My son was born a bit early and did spend some time in the NICU. They cared and watched over him so carefully.

My first born (daughter) had difficulty with breastfeeding. The lacatation staff is fabulous! They were so patient and helpful. We ended up having to schedule repeat visits to assist with my daughter's feeding for six weeks. They took my calls (even while I cried into the phone).

From labor to delivery, everyone is awesome.

I highly recommend Plano Presby!

I think the questions you asked have been answered.. but I just wanted to say that I had my first son (now 3) there and absolutely LOVED the staff/nurses/atmosphere, etc. I moved to McKinney, so decided to deliver at Centennial with my 2nd. It was a good experience, although if I had it to do over, I would have gone back to Plano Presby.

I delivered at Preby Plano and also had a c-section. The nurses were very friendly and I felt they were very helpful. As far as your food you just order what you want and they will bring it to you. A lactation consultant comes by your room every day to help you and the nurses help you with breastfeeding to.

I couldn't help but chime in and say that I loved my delivery at Presby Plano, my doctor is Dr. Webster also but she was on vacation when my boy came early so her partner Dr. Jaffee delivered for me and was great! The lactation staff at Presby is very supportive and helpful. You should check into doing the hospital tour before you deliver so you can see how things work there. I think you may be too far a long to do a class but you could try, they schedule them a little ways out. I loved my nurses and the food!

HI, I HAD MY FIRST DAUGHTER AT TRINITY IN CARROLTON AND THEN MY SECOND DAUGHTER (BORN 2 DAYS BEFORE HER SISTER'S 1ST B-DAY!) AT PLANO PRESBY. I LOVED BOTH HOSPITALS! MY SECOND DAUGHTER HOWEVER WAS 5 WKS PREEMIE AND THE FIRST PEDIATRICIAN WHO CAME TO TALK TO ME WAS VERY NON SHILANT ABOUT HER WELL BEING BUT THE SECOND DAY WHEN THE OLDER MALE PEDIATRICIAN CAME TO SEE ME HE REALLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT! THEY ENDED UP KEEPING HER BECAUSE SHE HAD JAUNDICE AND WASN'T EATING WELL. I WILL TELL YOU THIS THERE WAS ONE NURSE THERE WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL WITH ALYSSA. SHE TOLD ME HOW TO HANDLE HER AND FEED HER ECT.. I HAD NOT HAD A PREEMIE BABY SO I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH HER AND SHE'S NOT EARLY LIKE OTHERS OUT THERE YET SHE STILL NEEDED SPECIAL CARE. ANYWAY THIS NURSE KEPT ON THAT DOCTOR ABOUT KEEPING ALYSSA THERE IN THE HOSPITAL. I COULD TELL SHE TAKES HER JOB VERY SERIOUSLY AND CARED ABOUT THESE PRECIOUS BABIES. DURING DELIVERY THE NURSES WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL! YOU DO ORDER WHAT FOOD YOU WANT AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS SO REALXING! I LOVED IT THERE!!! I HOPE THIS HELPS! GOD BLESS!!!

I deliverd my son by C-section at Plano Presby and I felt like I was in a luxury hotel. The nurses are fantastic. The lactation consultants come around everyday 2 or 3 times if need be and the food is gourmet quality. You receive a menu and chose for yourself what you want to eat. You will be very pleased with the staff, food service and care you will receive.

Plano Presby is a great hospital. Dr. Webster was my doc too and delivered my twins via c-section. They take care of everything and make you feel very comfortable. They will have a lactation consultant come talk to you and help you with the first couple times till you get the hang of it. You can order food from the cafeteria and it is pretty good. The rooms are super big and cozy and the staff was very nice to me and my family during our stay. The best part about it, is you can relax and know your baby is in good hands b/c you will have plenty of time for worrying when you get home and get to care for her all by yourself! Good Luck!!

Dr. Webster was my doctor, too, and she is absolutely fantastic! I delivered in Jan. and had a wonderful experience with Plano Presby. My room was very nice and one of the remodeled ones, but there are some old rooms that are plain and stark - not very warm. The staff is friendly - very good nurses who try to make you comfortable. THere is a menu that you can order from and if your husband stays he can order a tray, as well, for a small charge.Overall a very good experience compared with the hospital I delivered at in Ca. 4 years ago! I delivered by c-section -- and Dr. Webster was my doc, too. I loved Plano Presby. fabulous staff, great nurses! I was really impressed.
yes, there's a menu in your room (i think you call by a certain time for the different meals, if i remember correctly) and then you call the number on the menu and a hostess will bring the meal to your room.
And when I was there, 3 1/2 yrs ago, there was a free breastfeeding class (like 30 mins long) on the maternity floor for new moms that just gave birth -- every day on weekdays, led by a lactation consultant. only moms allowed in there (no dads) because they wanted each mom to feel free to leave her shirt open if she wanted to - to get the hang of it. that was extremely helpful. i took a breastfeeding class when i was pregnant but nothing really prepares you for reality. this was so helpful because i got to hear other moms talk about their problems and ask questions. and i got more advice from an LC during the class. of course, i had an LC assigned to me also, who to came to my room.
even the nurses from the baby nursery were helpful....when they would bring my son back to my room...they always asked me questions about how i was feeling; how motherhood was treating me; how breastfeeding was going. and one nurse from the nursery was like an angel to me...made me feel so much better and gave me such encouraging advice right when i needed it.
even my mom was so delighted at how everyone treated me that she brought up bath&body works gift sets for the special nurses that helped me. The nurses write their names down on your dry erase board in your room -- make notes of the special ones so you can at least send them thank you cards because nurses rarely get kudos for anything they do...and they certainly don't do it for the pay. they work stressful, long hours (sometimes double shifts)...with little rewards other than making people feel happy, comfortable and healthy!

btw, when i was there...you could 'room-in' ...they let my son spend the night with us in my room...we all slept in my room. my hubby got to sleep on this comfy pull-out couch. but they always ask you first what you want. on the first night, i told them to bring him to me only when he cried for a feeding. i was soo exhausted. but the other nights, i wanted him to sleep with us in my room and that was fine.

I had my son at PHOP nearly 2 years ago via c-section. It was a fabulous facility! I loved all the nurses and staff with the exception of the lactation consultant(s). My son was in the NICU (wonderful, by the way) and the lactation consultants were very lax about helping me and coming down to the NICU to show a first time mom what to do. I only had 2 consults with them and the last one told me to let my son nurse as long as he wanted and left. When she came back over an hour later, my son was still nursing, I was bleeding and crying. All in all, I will have my next child there but I will check out the LCs before I let them help me! Also, please keep in mind that this was nearly 2 years ago. As a former healthcare professional I know that people move on, so don't let that affect your decision! Good luck and congratulations!
Another thing, you should sign up for their maternity tour. I know that it set our minds at ease and the explained all the hospital policies and procedures very well!

Plano Presby rocks, but I'm concerned that you don't already have this info... did you sign up for any of their birthing or parenting classes? Part of those classes includes a hospital tour and a complete rundown of how everything works which would answer all of your questions.

Food is room service style.
Nurses are great.
Lactation consultants on staff and they have a lactation class every day for those who are in the hospital with babies. That is a MUST do.

I delivered twins there in November of 2005. We had a great experience with them. The food is actually pretty decent. You get to order from a menu. My twins were actually in the NICU for a little over three weeks, so I dealt with just about everyone there. They did have a lactation nurse on staff at that time. They were extremely professional. We only had one nurse during the time that I didn't care for. We asked if she could not be our nurse again, and they took care of it.

Hello C., I have two boys and both were born at Presby in Plano. My Dr's name is Dena Jibril. I Love the hospital, I am very proud of my kids being delivered in such a wonderful environment. I loved the staff, they treat you very good, pamper you well, and your room feels like being at your own place. I want another child in the future, but my Dr. is moving to a different hospital. And to be honest with you I've been thinking about switching Dr. because I really had a good experience at Presby in Plano.

I had my daughter at Plano Presby 4.5 years ago. My experience was great and there is nothing I can complain about. They brought menu's and I chose what food I wanted - and the food wasn't bad - however, I will say, my husband ate most of it and people brought me outside stuff, just because. I didn't nurse my daughter but I know that every day they had 10a.m. bf'ing classes and a consultant who would come in if you needed anything. FYI - they don't allow a baby in the room if no one is awake so you can't room-in (at least you couldn't in 2002).

I'm delivering B/B/B triplets there this spring/summer :)

I just delivered there 4 weeks ago and had a wonderful experience. (My first child was born at an excellent hospital in Newport Beach, CA - I think Presby Plano was actually better!) I was bedrest at Prestby for 10 days before having my c-section. The nurses were very friendly and answered my calls in a prompt manner. I was very nervous about having a c-section again since my recovery the first time around was miserable. This time was much more pleasant. (Dr. Suzette Boyd is my doctor). You order food for yourself - they provide you with a menu to order from. (If you can, have family or friends bring you food as the meals are not that great. Also - the cafeteria food is pretty bad, and they have limited hours on Sat and are closed on Sun...for visitors who may want to grab a bite to eat). There are lactation consultants available. If you can, ask for Lacy. She LISTENS to you, and is not pushy, like most consultants are. Good luck with your delivery!

I delivered my little girl almost a year ago @ Presby Plano and had a wonderful experience & had a c-section as well. The rooms are suites and so nice and the nurses and nursery nurses are great. The lactation nurse did come visit and they had a class and anytime you needed the lactation nurse she was available and had schedules some times with you. Congratulations to be!

I had a great experience at Plano Presby - I really can't say enough good things about it. The nurses were fantastic - all of them. I was really, really pleased with that hospital. I had a horrible experience with my son's birth (different hospital) so with the second I was nervous that it would be the same situation.
You order your food - food is pretty good. My only complaint was the time I spent waiting on hold for them to take our order. They were extremely helpful in the lactation department.

Hi C.! I had my princess at Presby of Plano almost 6 years ago and it was a great experience. I was induced because my doctor was going on vacation. I stayed in the labor and delivery room (yeah!) because all the other rooms were full. The staff was very nice. They do have a lactating consultant on staff; however, I did take a nursing class for $25. It was well worth it! Good luck!

I delivered my daughter there via c-section a year and a half ago. I absolutely love that hospital!!! As the other moms said, you have a menu to order your meals from. If I remember correctly, your spouse can order meals too. And the food is GREAT!!! Sounds crazy, but it's true! :-) All the nurses, night and day, were wonderful. I can't wait to deliver there again. It's so comfy in the rooms, I enjoyed my 5 days there!! GOOD LUCK!!

I had 2 c-sections there with Dr. Jennifer Campbell. If I was planning to have more children, I would do it there again. Nurses were ALL very nice and attentive. The facility is even nicer now than when I had my kids 2 and 3 years ago. You order food off a little menu at your convenience and it is not half-bad (it is hospital food, of course, but it tastes pretty good). The lactation nurses are wonderful, and they have more than one. They will help you with whatever you need, and they are very available. Plus, they offer a breast-feeding class for mothers a day or so after they give birth. You bring your baby, and they show you how to get the baby to latch on, explain about pumping, etc. You will not leave there until they get your baby breastfeeding. I was so impressed. Definitely a first-rate facility. Good luck!

I delivered my daughter by c-Section at Plano Presby, and they were WONDERFUL!!! I hated to go home!! It felt more like a hotel experience than a hospital. I was even fortunate enough to have the same night nurse each night. (She even offered to share the nurses pizza one night - a new dad brought a stack of pizza to the nurses station) The lactation nurse came by right away and they even have a group class to attend with one on one attention from additional lactation nurses. You can order your own food, and for your husband when he is there with you, too! (Again, just like a hotel) The security is great too! They have a sensor on the baby's ankle with the ID - that they check thouroughly each time. If the baby is taken too close to an exit door, the whole floor (including elevators) shuts down. My personal experience was GREAT, and I highly recommend them!!!

I just wanted to let you know that I had a c-section with Dr. Webster. She was wonderful during the procedure. The nurses were great and found the lactation staff exceptionally supportive since I had a hard time with my son latching on. You order food and will be served on a tray. The gift shop staff were excellent since I had to get a nursing bra and they were really helpful. Overall wonderful experience.

I've had three c-sections at Presby Plano and everyone there is just incredible!!
The nurses are wonderful, and they have an excellent staff of lactation consultants. They will help you every step of the way!
You order the food from a menu- anytime you want to eat, and they bring it up to you and come take it away when you are finished.
I love it there! Everyone was really, really nice!

Plano Presby Rocks! I was amazed at the care the nursing staff provided, everyone was friendly and prompt anytime you needed anything at all! You can order from a menu for food while you are there, and your husband can order from the menu for $5.00 (a year ago) I thought the food was really good! Of course after a entire night of labor and a 10:00 a.m. c-section, by the time I got to eat...probably anything would have been good....but my husband did enjoy it too. The lactation consultant was a bit slow...she was just overwhelmed I think. I liked one/and did not like one...but that was just me...I was having so many problems nursing, as this was my first, and we could just not get the hang of things at first. Alls I can say if you can possibly make it to the classes(after delivery), this was most helpful to me....of course this is your second, so maybe you are a pro. All in all I can truthfully say my stay at Plano Presby was almost perfect.
