Reputable Pool Builder in Cedar Park/Austin Area

I would like to know if anyone out there has had good or bad experiences with local pool builders. We are in the process of researching and would like to have a pool in the backyard by this summer. We have had a couple of companies out to look at our yard and give us estimates. We have also checked the bbb website and looked for complaints on the internet. After doing some research on some of the companies, we have found that one of the builders we talked to had a failed pool building company in the past that had many bbb complaints that went unresolved. We have even had one company that did not show up for the initial estimate appointment. Its just such a big investment of time and money, that we do not want hassle and problems when we are paying for a service. Also, it would be great to know the type of pool you have and how easy you find it to maintain. We have been asking coworkers and friends about their pools, but everyone we have talked to so far bought their home with the pool already there. Of course the builders we have talked to share positive testimonials and say that their pools are almost maintenance free. We appreciate your responses and any advice you can give. Experience is the best education! We will let you know how it goes.

What can I do next?

We love our pool (in ground saltwater pool with pebbletec)and were extremely happy with Dick Lynch, owner of Poolscapes. We started out with Cool Water Pools and had a terrible experience. Best of luck!

Spindler Construction does excellent work with new pools. Deric Spindler has been around for years and very good reputation.

DO NOT USE OASIS or CODY POOLS. We used Oasis pools and it was a nightmare. Our pool is good now, but it ended up costing us $20k more than we orignally planned even though we used the same plans from the original quote. Make sure that there will be a supervisor on the site every day or at least before each phase of construction. The guys building our pool did not even have plans with them and there was no supervisor in site. Here is my advice...build in the winter..it is cheaper and they might pay more attention to building your pool, as summer seems to be the busy time. Check the better business bureu and ask for mulitple references. Have every detail, including a survey in writting. We have a gunite pool and we chose salt water instead of chlorine. We love the salt water, it is not salty and it is much much much less matinence. It is also good for your body and hair, we don't have to worry about green hair either. Other features we have are a slide, diving board, rock waterfall, spa, fountians, and a heater. We love our pool, just HATED our builder. My sister in law used Quality Custom pools and they did a great job. I think they were kind of pricey, but after our experience I would rather pay more upfront and have less stress and hassle during the process. The most important thing is: It is your money and your pool. Get someone who will build what you want and will work well with you.You can see our pool on Oasis's website. I think ours is the last pool with several pictures. They don't deserve the publicity as the design was something my husband and I came up with. And if I hadn't been home everyday to oversee the project it would have turned out totally different.Good Luck and I hope you have a better experience than we did.

DON'T go with Summit Pools. Their slogan is swim in 29 days or less. It's BS. They might be called Royal Pools now. We had a horrible experience with them. Project manager was never around and so many things got built wrong. With that being said, we went with salt water which I do love, and a dark bottom. We might have gone a tad too dark on the bottom because the sun hits it all day and in August it's almost too warm to swim unless you get umbrella's to shade it. We also went with the heater for the winter which I am glad we did. They tried to talk us out of it. Get lots of recommendations and try talking to the people with pools and not the people they recommmend. They will most likely only let you talk to the ones that were happy. Also try not building during the peak time when every one else is. That way you may get a discount and you might get extra attention on your pool.If they are too busy like ours was you will have all kinds of problems.
Good luck!
