Hi everyone!! I just wanted to ask a simple. I will also ask my dr. for other options as well. But just wanted to get your opinions as well. I have a problem swallowing my prenatal pills. I even have the soft gels & still no use. My friend told me that I can replace the prenatals by taking 2 gummi vitamins bc that is what she did bc her dr told her. I was just wondering if that was true. This might not make alot of sense bc Im doing this in a hurry my lunch break is almost over. But anywho!! Everyones opinion will be greatly appreciated! Thanks & God Bless!!!

I had that problem, too... My OBGYN gave me chewable prenatals. They are PRENATALS, but chewable. Ask for them! I'll give you the kind if you need... just message me.

I am sure you can do something like that. My dr. suggested I take 2 flinstone chewable vitamins when I could not swallow the pills due to gagging and throwing them up. I was quite nauseous, so that helped some. Just compare the amount of each vitamin, I am sure your dr. will help you find the right thing. ~A.~

I definitely would not experiment with this; ask your doctor. There are several different ones on the market that you doctor may have you try.

I had the same problem. My doc said I could do that but they are not as good. Instead she gave me a hard pill and I crush it in apple sauce. It's not very tasty, but at least I get my vitamin.

Just last week my dr. told me I could take a Flinstone's vitamin. I have been throwing up my prenatal...he said if you look at the bottles they are very much the same and that it's better to get all of a Flinstone's than none of my prenatal.

You can take a nutritional supplement that is safe and gives all the benefit to you and your baby. I have quite few moms to be usine it and feel great. Let me know if you would like information.

I take Promise Stages Prenatals. They are small and easy to swallow and they are formulated for each stage of pregnancy. I'm not there yet, but I took them with our first and we are STILL trying again.

Those won't have enough folic acid in them- my 2 year old takes gummy vitamins (2 a day). I had my doc prescribe me a vitamin that comes in a capsule form making it much easier to swallow.

Give your doctor a call before you make any changes to your vitamins. Folic acid is very important during pregnancy and I don't know that a child's vitamin, even doubled will have enough of it for your growing baby. Your doctor will know and be able to help you figure out the best thing to do.

Check out the B-Complex made by Shaklee, as it is scientifically proven to absorb the Folate that is the outer coating of the vitamin. If you take this I think a multivitamin would be fine. I'm not expert, buy I know that Shaklee is very good.

My body does not absorb vitamin pills properly.

Per my Dr., I take sublingual B-12 with Folic acid and liquid vitamin d. Some multi vitamins are come in liquid. He has me on rather large doses, however, I am not pregnant nor can I get pregnant.

Of course, check with your Dr., but this option works for me.

My stomach couldn't handle my prenatal for the first half of my pregnancy, so my dr. said I could take a Flinstone vitamin.....just as long as I was getting 400 mg of Folic Acid (which the flinstone Complete chewables contained).

Best of luck to you and your expanding family!

Prenatals caused me to be extremely constipated no matter which brand I tried so my ObGyn recommended 2 Flintstone chewables. Worked just fine!

J., research shows that vitamins don't do all they claim to in the first place... but yes, many docs prescribe gummies or kids' vitamins for those of us who can't swallow horse pills! Research does show the importance of folic acid in pregnancy-- those pills are small. Take that if nothing else. This is normal... good luck!

I take the Flinstones vitamens-chewables. My Dr says they have everything you need, but you might need additional iron because it has less since it is for children. I was taking the gummy ones, but they don't have all the folic acid you need, at least the brands I tried. If you find some with 100% folic acid let me know because they certainly taste the best. You should definately ask your Dr though at your next visit for her opinion. Good luck.
