let the dr. know.. they are supposed to fall off by themselves.. but 8 days after should be ok. how does the incision look? is it tightly closed? does it seem like its healing?? if yes.. then you should be ok...

As others have said, only your surgeon can really answer this question. However, steri strips often fall off on their own in about a week to 10 days, so this doesn't sound like it's necessarily a problem. I don't have any idea the type of surgery you had or the way your surgeon closes, but you should have internal stitches along with stitches or staples to keep the skin together as well.

Certainly, call your surgeon immediately if your incision begins to dehisce (the edges come apart) or if you have signs of infection -- pus, redness, swelling and warmth around the site.

Hi J.,
Steri strips are meant to fall off on their own. I don't know what kind of surgery you had, but your question is best directed to your surgeon. I would call to let him/her know that you removed these.

maybe you should've checked with the dr first. i believe that they are supposed to come of themselves and any left over are removed by your dr. at your next appt.

Is your incision closed? If it is still open the steri strips should not have been removed. Keeping the steri strips in place as long as the Dr. recommends also helps minimize scaring and infection. Steri strips should be left on even when they start to roll up. To keep them intact after a shower pat dry with a small isopropyl alcohol pad.

Your concern would be best answered by your surgeon. Make a phone call. Also, surely you must have your post-op examination appointment already previously scheduled, to know your answer.
