I have something in my foot, and have since last night, but I can't see anything there. It is really bothering me. Is there a way to coax out a splinter that you can't see? TIA

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you, ladies, for all of your wonderful suggestions. I ended up using the Epsom salts and it worked! If anyone else has this problem I'd suggest the same thing, and there was a bonus of a nice long foot soak. One thing I'd add is to make the water really, almost uncomfortably hot. I soaked twice and the second time with the really hot water seemed to do the trick. I still don't know what was in my foot, but it feels much better now.

One more thing, don't buy invisible tweezers. I was going to use them, but could never find them! ;)

Okay this is gonna sound really off the wall. But.... it works

Take a peice of tomato place it over the splinter, wrap it well with gause, tape it up and leave it overnight. The acid in the tomato takes out the splinter. It will gone in the morning.

This worked with a peice of brittle glass I got in my foot years ago.

Are you sure you have a splinter? Epsom salt does help with some but the other is an oldie but a goodie: a little dab of elmers glue on the spot. Once it dries peel it off. I have had things as tiny as a hair stuck in at just the right angle!

Good luck!

I would use a warm Epson Salt "bath"...

Or go to a salon and get a pedicure...

You can try soaking it in a warm Epsom salts solution.

As everyone has said soak your foot in epsom salt and then use a pumice stone going with the invisible splinter not against it. Against it could bury it deeper in your foot. With it should grab the end and pull it out.

Ok, I'm a little wacky, but this is what I would do. I would get a knife and carefully scrape across the affected area. Exfoliating the skin around the area may help get whatever it is out of there.

I hate that feeling.

Good Luck!

My husband would put on his headlamp and glasses and dig for it with a needle. . I had him remove a splinter from my finger yesterday..
He should have been a surgeon.

I got a splinter in my finger and tried digging it out by piercing the skin with a small sterilized needle and it didn't work - then I remembered my grandmother's old remedy - so I soaked the finger in rubbing alcohol - by putting the alcohol in a small shot glass and after a good little while I lifted the finger out of the little glass and the splinter was sitting upright - right out of my finger - it was amazing.

Do you remember stepping on something? If not it could be the beginning of a planters wart.

Thistles have clear spines, or it could be a thin sliver of glass. If you have any idea where it is and in which direction it goes, and if there's a little bit sticking out, you can scrape it gently with the edge of a credit card. Be sure you go in the direction it's "pointing" and not the other way.

If you can't see it, don't do the above. I agree with Epsom salt soaks. I just LOVE the Elmer's glue technique! I imagine you could also try a little candle wax and just let it really harden first.

There is a product called drawing salve you can purchase at any drug store that will draw out splinters.

Duct tape!
Stick it to your skin then peel off.
The splinter will come with it.
