I have developed the lovely rash of PUPPP or PEP. It is only on my stomach now and is incredibly itchy! I have heard that it will probably spread and stay with me through the rest of my pregnancy! (I am only 29 weeks!) I would love any recommendations I could get for some itch relief! I have a dr. appt at the end of next week, but I would love some relief before then!
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I developed one hive...LOL but it itched like crazy and wouldn't go away for anything. It finally went away when they adjusted my thyroid medicine. I don't think that will help you but I thought I'd let you know in case you happen to be on thyroid meds. Good luck and congratulations.... ~ BTW ~ I'm 21 weeks with #5. =)

I had it very early through my pregnancy as well! Such a pain! My doctor put me on a week of steroids, and then I had me take allergy meds for the rest of my preganancy. Seeing how it is actually an "allergy" to your own placenta. That pretty much took care of it for me, and I didn't have too many flare ups at all. I was diagnoised with it at 25 weeks and after the week of what is this-remedy was the only bad part. GOOD LUCK!

Zantac & Zyrtec together

When a friend of mine was pregnant her OB told her to use Zantac & Zyrtec, call and ask your Doctor if it would be okay to use, there is something about the combination of the 2 that works. Good Luck!!!

Hi L.,
I never had PUPPP or PEP with my previous pregnancy but I did develop a rash on my stomach that was unbearably itchy in my second trimester. I don't know what caused it and it did go away after several days. I tried everything but I found the Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath packets to help. I sure hope you find some relief!

I developed Pupps after birth. Only thing to releave itch was icy-hot muscle ache cream. But I don't know is safe if you are pregnant. Pupps develops when the babies blood blood mixes with yours.

Look at the products you currently use on your skin. They may have never caused a reaction before but pregnancy makes the body ultra-sensitive because it knows instinctively what is good for it and not. Your skin is your largest organ of both absorption and elimination. Very briefly, anything with mineral oil or petroleum is toxic. Synthetic fragrances and colors also cause reactions. If you want a well-researched and detailed list feel free to contact me for it. I am a certified herbal consultant and can guide you to all-natural products that are good food for you and your baby.
