Red Face - Fullerton,CA

Just recently, I have noticed my face getting red for no reason. I thought it was when I got upset with my spouse. Today, it happend for no reason. It is the type of red that looks like I am blushing. This has happened maybe 5 times in the last 2 weeks. Is this part of menopause? I just turned 45.

Welcome to menopause. It's so fun! :) I am 41 and had my first full blown hot flash about 4 months ago. Yes we are a little young, but it probably is perimenopause, you know, the small menopause, before the big one hits. LOL! I have been using a natural remedy from my vitamin guy called Hot Flash by Source Naturals. I have had a decrease in hot flashes but they aren't gone completely. I do get a red face and sometimes my chest and arms get red too. It's crazy all the weird hormonal things that we women have to endure. Go to webmd and check out signs of menopause. Hang on sister, the roller coaster ride is just beginning according to what my mother says! Good luck!

It could be a reaction to a skin product you are using. Have you been using something new? My face started to look reddish when I was using a moisturizer with sunscreen.

Sure sounds like menopause to me. Do you get hot when it happens? If so, i would strongly suggest getting your hormone levels tested: it really could be early onset of menopause (menopause might also be a factor in getting upset with your spouse!)

I would lean towards the roseca. Shortly before it happens, have you had any foods, anything you drink, like coffee, red wine, spicy foods? Hormones play a big part as well.

A book every woman in her 30's on should have: Dr. Christiane Northrup, Womens Bodies, Womens Wisdom.

Products that I use and sell from Sensaria Natural Bodycare have gotten rid of all of my redness: White Tea Calming, Freshening Mist, and one of the moisturizers. www.sensaria.com/J.

A doctor will probably suggest a prescripton. Don't go there at least not yet. So many things you can do beforehand. That is, if it is roseca and/or hormones.

Menopause is when your menses lapse altogether. Everything else is Perimenopause and this is often the worst part of it all. And it can go on for many years as the body gears down. I would take myself to the doc if I was having these problems. It could be Perimenopause, rosacea, or even high blood pressure. It would be worth running it by him/her. Take a picture of yourself while this is happening, it’s worth a thousand words as they say. Good luck, let us know if you find out what it is.

I too would get a red face "just out of the blue" that would last for a minute or two or three...and that was my "hot-flashes"...they lasted for a couple years, but only had them VERY OCCASIONALLY...I was 40 at the time...and honestly that was all I ever experienced of menopause...I was soooooooooo fortunate and maybe you will be too? I had that and a couple years of spotty periods (peri-menopause) and that was it...no periods now for 10 years since...I am now 51 1/2....I take NOTHING at all...so menopause was a breeze for me...I wish that for all women...you included!

Consult your doctor. Could be something mild like rosacea, could be a reaction to medication, could be part of menopause...
