Recycling - Culver City,CA

ok...this may sound naive but does anyone have a good resource for
learning what exactly can be recycled? i know the basics - but what i
am finding out is that things i thought could be - can't. such as pizza
boxes! i am trying to teach oliver (4 years old) what can and cannot be
recylced and why - and thought someone out there might have a great
resource to share. i also want to earn more for myself!!!
thanks!

What can I do next?

Don't know about where but I just read the paper recently and found out that those compact flourescent bulbs they want us to buy to save our earth has mercury in it and should never be thrown out with the trash. Who knew???

I'm not sure what city you're in, but here's the info for Long Beach. You might try a google search for your city's sanitation department, although my guess is it's probably pretty similar for most cities.

Go to your Sanitation Dept. website and also go to the LACSD Hazardous Waste Collection website (www.lacsd.org) for recycling light bulbs (all kinds) and batteries, etc. I take our hazardous recycling to LACSD about 3 times a year.
Thank you for caring about the earth.

call your sanitation company or visit their website they ususally list the items they recycle. Their lists usually list the recycling numbers they work with. Pizza boxes is definitely one of them. Thank you for teaching your young son the importance of caring for our environment.
