So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the input. I also found out that the "old wives" rememdy is using very browned flour (heated only in a cast iron skillet). Baking Soda also worked wonders today.

I just spoke to my doctor about this same exact question because now that my son is 2 he gets a diaper rash all the time. He told me to use A&D Ointment on him all the time and it should take care of the problem. Try it and see. It seems to work well for us!

I used Desitin on all of my children and use it on my grandson now, if they get one that doesn't go away after you put the Desitin on sprinkle with some corn starch, always works

After 4 kids, I swear by Bag or Udder Balm. It comes in a green can from farm supply stores (it actually started by being used on cow's udders, but now is even used in some hospitals for skin irritations). It goes on & wipes off easily, but forms a good protective barrier to keep the skin from being irritated by urine & feces. It's also really good if you have cracked feet or hands! Put it on before bedtime! It doesn't work well for yeast-based diaper rash though.

Triple Paste is by far the BEST!! My son had the same problem and we tried that. By his next diaper change we could see a difference. Give it a try!

Hey K.! Here is what I've used and my Doctor recommended it to me also. It's AWESOME!!!

You take your diaper cream your using and mix just a little bit of mylox-mix it and let it sit for a little while and the ingredients in the mylox will do the trick!
Total Little House on the Prairie home made mix!

My one year old has the most sensitive skin and used to get the worst diaper rashes. Our peditrician recommended a cream called Triple Paste, and wow what a difference. Good luck.

I like Desetin Creamy, but I personally think that most will work, as long as you apply it regurlary (especially at night even without a rash insight), and when the area is COMPLETELY dry before applying it.

We love Boudreaux's Butt Balm. It clears up diaper rash with one application almost every time. They also have Boudreaux's Baby Kisses that works great for chapped lips and cheeks.

A & D ointment, Aquaphor, even Bag Balm work well. Anything with Zinc Oxide like Desitin is good.

Is your child eating something pretty acidic that is causing the diaper rash? Juices? Sometimes cutting those things out of the diet for a couple of days will help.

Hi K.!
I have something that will work and its much nicer than your regular diaper creams. Its made from African botanicals and is so gentle on the skin. Its called Inkomfe Skin Repair w/ MLE and it will clear up the rash within a couple of applications, and with regular use will keep the diaper rash away! I am so in love with this stuff! (I was told by my doctor not to use vaseline because although it does provide a barrier against the urine, it did not allow the skin to "breathe" properly.) If you want to try the Skin Repair, please contact me and I will send you a small trial size (about 5-7 days worth) for free. In fact, anyone reading this post can contact me and I will send you all a trial size...I believe in it THAT much! My email is: ____@____.com

When my daughter was born (nearly 11 years ago) the nurse told me to take some Vaseline and put it in the middle of the diaper and then close it and rub it together. The Vaseline then goes on babies skin and kinda makes a little protective barrier. I never heard that again, but used it with all three of my children and honestly I think all together with my three children we had a total of three breakouts just due to them being ill. Once you get it cleared up you might want to try it. It's cheap and honestly really seems to work.
Good luck.

Butt Paste is by far the BEST. I bought a huge tub, yep that is right tub not tube and have used most of it (I have twins)

If the diaper rash does not clear up or go away after a couple of days max... or if you see white spots. Take the child in to the doctor, both my twins had a diaper rash that could only be cleared up by some wierd mix of steriods and other meds. But it cleared up in a couple of hour what they had been suffering with for more than a week!

We use butt paste! We love it! We use to use Desitin but it took twice as long to get rid of the diaper rash then it does with the butt paste.

Triple Paste works wonders. But ask your pediatrician about what type of diaper rash. It could be a yeast infection-like one. There's a new cream on the market. Can't recall the name (sorry my youngest is 5) but if you ever watch Discovery Health in the mornings, the commercial is on all the time. Hope this helps. Good luck! Cheap and easy: Vaseline! Put it on with every diaper change and absolutely no diaper rash! Vaseline works as a "natural" barrier and prevents the urine from touching the skin. Both my sister and I have used it and neither of our children have ever had diaper rash! We also recommend it at my hospital.
