Ok, I am 28 yrs old and my husband and I have been ttc for 2 years, we have lost 3 babies all around 7-9 weeks, I know for sure the 2 were to the cause of "chromosomal abnormalities" I have seen a specialist had all of the tests, and guess what? nothing is wrong with me, so the specialist did put me on a daily regimen of baby aspirin, extra folic acid, along with my prenatals, to ensure a "healthy environment for baby", just this week i have found out that I am pregnant again so I am now using progesterone vaginal suppositories twice a day..I am SOOO terrified that this will end is disappointment, Is there anyone out there who has had success or could give me a little advice?

(The chromosomal abnormalities where on chromosome #1 for the 2nd misc. and #16 4 the 3rd misc., the 1st misc cause is unknown, but I have to assume that it was due 2 a similar issue. My husband & I both had our genes tested by a genetic specialist and the results came back fine)

I was tested for the clotting problem & it came back fine, I was pretty much told I just have horrible luck :(
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR POSTS,INFO & PRAYERS, IT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME!

What can I do next?

Did they tell you what specifically the chromosomal abnormalities were? My first child has Down Syndrome. My second pregnancy was lost to triploidy & an additional chromosome 15 on top of that. My third pregnancy was a healthy boy! We went through karyotyping and the geneticist told us none of the chromosomal abnormalities were hereditary and my husband and I were fine. We had the same chance as anyone to have a healthy baby (except for the higher risk of Down Syndrome).. it was all a "fluke".

I was 36-37 years old and had 3 miscarriages in a row then had my son. I am also pregnant again (18 weeks), and had no miscarriages in between babies. At least two of my miscarriages were also due to chromosomal abnormalities.
I hope all works out for you.

Well I never was advised to take any regimine of anything. My first mc was in '82. And from what I read it appeared to be an abnormality too. The other two, in 88 and 92, there just doesn't seem to be any obvious cause for. And still no one suggested any regimine of supplements or anything. If you've been tested and there's nothing wrong, has your hubby been tested?
I did manage to have 3 great boys. Would've loved a girl. But I just love all three of my kids. And the youngest is 19. So really 3 mc's is not all that uncommon. Get your immune system in prime condition, get some good vitamins in you. Don't worry about it because they say that fretting about getting pregnant often causes enough stress to inhibit it. Think of many of the families that adopt because they couldn't seem to get pregger. As soon as they got mentally distracted from having a child of their own, suddenly they found themselves expecting! So don't put so much thought into it, because that can cause you to stress even when you don't feel stressed.

We never found out why we had miscarriages, but after 7 long years, we now have a beautiful, healthy, 17 mo old little girl. We believed that God felt we weren't ready to have anyone but her! I know it's hard but hang in there and good luck! I'll pray for you.

I am sorry for your losses. I also experienced this 4 times, once after a pregnancy which resulted from in vitro fertilization. I remember feeling as you do - terrified. Th drs. never found any cause for my miscarriages. Back then, I would have seen the possibility of adoption as admitting defeat. I know that God changed my heart. Now, we have 3 beautiful children which we adopted from S. Korea, two of which are twin brothers. Nothing will change the sadness and anger that accompanied the miscarriages, but I do know that my children were placed in my arms by God, who gave us the perfect children for our family. I don't know what the future holds for you, but I pray you will be a mom someday soon.

I'm an OB nurse and we have had many patients that have delivered healthy babies after multiple miscarriages.

Ask to be tested for MTHFR, Factor 5, and lupus.

It sounds as though they're treating you for the MTHFR....it's a clotting thing and they usually prescribe baby aspirin & folic acid (sometimes heparin).

And sometimes it's the progesterone that helps.

Remember, there is nothing you can do to cause or to prevent a miscarriage if it's truly going to happen. Just keep doing what the doctors say, try to stay positive.

Good luck!

Dear A.,
First, I want to say I am so sorry for your losses and the pain you have had to go through. The struggles of miscarriages is greater than many people realize. I too have gone through miscarriages (two) and all the testing. The doctor did determine that there was something wrong that was treatable, and I am now 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant! Like you, I had to take the progesterone vaginal suppositories twice a day, and like you, I was terrified of suffering another loss. While I guess I could still lose this baby, I was so thrilled to hear the heartbeat yesterday. I know of two women who had multiple miscarriages and went on to have healthy babies after taking the progesterone. You will probably be extra worried your entire pregnancy; I think that is just the way it is after suffering losses. As hard as it is, try to have hope. When I pray for my baby, I will pray for yours too! Congratulations and blesssings!
Rachael

Hi,
I had issues with my 1st pregnancy that ended in a misscarriage then I went on to have a normal 2nd pregnancy, a little girl. The 3rd pregnancy I started to have issues with my hormone levels and they put me on progesterone once a day. All I can say is that helped me. I was on it till 12 weeks and went on to have a adorable little boy that just turned 1 a few days ago. I always wonder if my misscarriage was a results of low hormone levels. I wish you all the best.

First, let me say how sorry I am for your losses. I know how trying and upsetting it is. I had one early 1st trimester loss (around 6-8 wks) and a full term loss of my daughter as well. Those were my first 2 pregnancies. I ended up having 2 successful pregnancies afterwards. I was on vaginal progesterone suppositories with my 4th pregnancy and she is now a happy & healthy 1 year old.

FYI-I run a pregnancy & infant loss support group that meets the 3rd Wed of every month in Taylor. Please feel free to email me if you'd like more information.

Have you been tested, or done an elimination diet to see if you have an undiagnosed food allergy? Gluten Intolerance has caused a few of my losses. I've gotten some great advice and support from a dear friend who's a midwife. So my suggestion is read "The gluten connection- how gluten sensitivity can be sabotaging your health and what you can do to take control now. By Sheri Leberman. Eat the very best you can, we eat a lot of vegies w/beans and rice dishes. I try to eat the worst ofenders organic and all my greens. And if that dosen't fix the problem your all the healthier for it.

I wish you the very best luck to come, and hope you have a very good a good support system through all that. A. H

Since your Dr put you on a regimen including baby aspirin, has he/she run a test to check for MTHFR? It's a problem with clotting, that can cause miscarriages? It can be treated. Just a thought. Congratulations on this pregnancy. I pray you have a happy healthy baby. S.

sorry I have no advice for you but maybe can offer you hope and some Prayers, My MIL lost 5 babies before she had my hubby , back then they really had no answers for her as to why she was losing them, when she found out she was pregnant (at 42) with him she cut everything off completely, turned off her phone would not answer the door and laid around other than the little bit of housework that needed to be done by her. She carried him full term and he was born on time and he weighed 7lbs. 10oz. I guess when the time is right it will happen for you guys too, just be patient, God does know what he is doing don't loose your faith.

Hi~
Im sorry that you are scared. Miscarriage happens more than you realize...a lot more. Most are undiagnosed because the woman wasn't checking for pregnancy like we are when we are ttc. Most women chalk it up to a heavy period. I certainly don't say that to downplay your emotions or make you feel like it's not painful and scary. I had a m/c too, it is a terrible feeling. My only point is that there is so much hope for you to have a healthy baby...lots of them if you so choose! You are doing the right thing with medical care from the beginning. Relax, do what you are supposed to do and remember that right now, right here, this baby you are carrying needs you to not be stressed out.

Prayers,
L.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I've been there, so I understand how nervous you're feeling. I did all of the things that you're currently doing but I also had to give myself Lovenox (a blood thinner)injections because I have a clotting disorder. I now have a beautiful, amazing baby girl. I bled through ALL 3 of my pregnancies, including when I was pregnant with my daughter. Good luck to you, I wish you the best!!!!

Hello A. - I am so sorry to hear of your losses, and let me say, I know exactly how you're feeling. I miscarried 6 pregnancies, none of which could be determined as to why. We knew I had fertility issues, but after so many miscarriages, they weren't able to relate those to the cause & they were just declared as 'unknown'. Like you, some were chromosomal & others could not be tagged with anything at all. BUT, I am the mother of 2 healthy, beautiful little girls - and you can be, too! Just recently I was talking with someone & mentioned that I lost 6 babies before my girls, and they started to feel so sad for me, but my sadness is gone - and it's been replaced with nothing but love & gratefulness for what I now have. And I truly believe that I needed to take that LONG path to get where I am today - without the losses, perhaps I wouldn't have the win!
Now, like you I took the progesterone twice daily, the baby aspirin & the extra folic acid (in addition to what was in my prenatal vitamin), but I also took metformin. I went to U of M & the doctor there thought it would help with my insulin resistance. I lost weight while on it, cut all white breads, pasta, etc., plus caffeine & alcohol out of my diet, and viola! A healthy baby girl! As for the 2nd baby, well, she came along 18 months later as a BIG surprise without any intervention whatsoever!
It WILL happen - hang in there - and if ever you need to talk, please reach me! Keep looking at the big picture, and your day will come just like mine. Keep the faith! You're in my thoughts! T.

Dear A.,
My heart goes out to you! Yes, there is a lot to discover in this arena and doctors can be lost as to answers. I am a nurse who has turned certified nutrition educator as I went "back to the books"to learn the direct connection between our daily nutrition and health issues... medical school and nursing school have very little educ in that arena! I would love to chat with you and share some thoughts if you'd be interested. S.

Alexandria:

First of all, I am sorry for your losses and I can completely feel your pain. I also had 3 miscarriages. They were all around the same time as you, 7-9 weeks. For me, after the first one (where I didn't know there was a problem or cause to worry), the dr. would have me come in at 6 weeks for an early ultrasound. Every time, we found an underdeveloped embroy with a very slow heart beat. Each time, we knew the pregnancy was not viable. I also had a bunch of blood work and testing done. My husband also had a test done - it was on both of us - to see if we were actually not compatible for having children. Everything came back normal. The specialist told me that he pretty much felt like it was bad luck. His one thought was that, although I was ovulating, possibly the eggs were not completely mature when I ovulated, which would result in a miscarriage every time. We decided to wait 6 months and try clomid. Well, on the 6th month, I found out I was pregnant again, so ,I never did the clomid. This time, my dr told me to do the same things as you are doing - I took baby aspirin every day, took progesterone, and, of course, my prenatal vitamins. Went in at 6 weeks and had a normal sized embroy with a good heart beat. Long story short, I ended up having a totally normal pregnancy and I now have a 16 month old son. Who knows what was "wrong" and if the aspirin and progesterone helped, or, if the planets just lined up the right way (finally). As a matter of fact, I am now 4 months pregnant with our second child. I am still on pins and needles, regardless of the fact that I had a normal pregnancy last time and everything has been fine so far this time...but, who wouldn't be, right? Having 3 miscarriages will do that to anyone. So, what I can say is not to lose hope. I will add you to my list of pregnant girls tonight when I pray (I know quite a few right now) and I wish you and your husband the best of luck.

I find it interesting that the doctor would put you on a baby aspirin. Did he say why?

Pray. Give it up to God and He is there for you. Being in a calm relaxed state will help you get through this. I find praying helps me that words cannot express how much it helps me.

Think positive and find any resources that will help you to be positive and calm.

God bless, your husband and your baby!

hello, well your not alone. My husband and I have been trying for a while to concieve our 5th. Yes I know I have four and should be happy. I am but want one more and hopefully its a boy. Nothing like wanting to pick and choose lol as long as its healthy. Anyway I have had miscarriages in between the children. Except this time I have two in a row. I actually just miscarried in the begining of august and found out yesterday i am 3 weeks along. I don't need the prtestrone but used it with the last pregnancy and I still miscarried it. Now I don't know what there going to do. I do know I am not saying a word to my husband or anyone till I know that I am not going to miscarry it. I know this easier said than done but try to relax. Unfortunatly its in gods hands and maybe he feels you need to slow your life down so maybe if you sit and don't do so much try not to work with chemicals or kitty litter or anything toxic. Just sit around as much as possible relax, read take baths, walk if you can. But sit alot and relax be lazy. Good Luck!!

Congratulations. I know that magnesium deficiencies can lead to miscarriages, if you crave alot of chocolate you may be low on magnesium. you can google high magnesium foods or supplement,I would go to a health food store like zerbos or nutrifoods that have high quality supplements, sometimes the drs prenatal has just what people tend to be missing not a good complete prenatal vitamin, also mercury toxic levels can lead to miscarriages Dr. Charneskey in troy is a dentist who specializes in this. There is an MD in Ann Arbor Dr. JAmes Arond-thomas MD who can do testing most doctors don't do. He is a cancer/and chronic disease specialist, he may find some underlying infection or virus. I had him see my friend she was low on magnesium and she got pregnant after he worked with her. Dr. Tent is in novi he is a ND chiropractor who has helped lots of people too. Good luck
