We are moving to the Frisco/McKinney area from Colorado very soon and would appreciate recommendations on good subdivisions. Looking at the new subdivision Hidden Cove in west Frisco. Any opinions on school districts are welcome too!

Although I live in McKinney, I have worked for Frisco ISD for almost a decade, and Frisco has excellent schools. McKinney and Prosper schools are wonderful as well, as we have friends that work at or attend both of these districts too. No matter where you choose, you really can't go wrong.

I would suggest you find the school for your kids first and then go from there on the housing. If you find your home first you may be unhappy with the school. Be sure and check out the neighborhood you are thinking of in the evening around 6 pm and this will give you an idea of how many cars are in the neighborhood, walk around are people friendly, do you hear dogs barking?, etc.

I live in a small town of Prosper (population 5500) which is just north of Frisco and West of McKinney. The schools are fantastic and the community is wonderful! We considered Frisco and Mckinney but fell in love with Prosper. Our neighborhood is Lakes of LaCima. I think you can see us online at www.lakesoflacima.com
If you are interested I can send you links to the schools as well.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a blessed day!

I dont know much that part of Frisco. I do see that they have Little Elm ISD. I LOVE Frisco ISD. You might just googl the comparing stats of the school districts. I live in Panther Creek Estates, on the East side of town, by ElDorado and Hillcrest. I love it, the parks, the schools, everything. Willow Bay is also on ElDorado and I think had similar builders but are a little more affordable.

If you are considering west Frisco, you should look at The Trails of West Frisco. It is a wonderful, family community with homes in various price ranges. It is almost built out, but there are still new homes from builders available, but your best value would be purchasing a preowned home. In this economy, you would get a lot of home for your dollar. The Frisco ISD is wonderful. A wonderful Catholic high school just opened a couple of years ago in Plano, (just south of Frisco) which might be of interest to you in a few years.

Hi J.,

I am also from Colorado (Ft. Collins) & Catholic. I live in Plano. We attend St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church which also has a great preschool (Seton's Ark).

All of the Northern suburbs of Dallas are pretty nice. It all depends on what you are looking for.... My neighbor Ellen Myers is a local realtor, and she could definitely point you in the right direction. Her contact info is... Ellen Myers

We LOVE The Trails of West Frisco. We just moved to another house in The Trails. There are two elementary schools, two play grounds, two pools, and a pond with ducks. It is a very family friendly neighborhood. Good luck and welcome to Texas!

Excellent. I live in Meadow Hill Estates in Frisco and our schools are awesome. I have a 12 y.o. girl also who will be going in 7th grade. Will your's be in 7th? Our youngest is still at Roger Elem and they are also great. As to the subdivision, we are around 10 years old, have community pool and lots of activities for adult and families. We have lots lots of kids!!! Do you have a realtor? I am not a realtor but I have a great one to recommend.

We LOVE the McKinney area. We live in the subdivision Villages of Lake Forest off Lake Forest and Virginia Parkway. We're right across from the newly built McKinney Boyd High School.

The McKinney ISD is great and highly ranked. Check out their website at http://www.mckinneyisd.net/.

We love all the areas along Eldorado and Virigina. Great neighborhoods. Great people. Well maintained/manicured. Lots of amenities. Easy access to major highways (75, 121, 380)

I wish you the best with your move. We moved here from St. Louis 3 years ago so we understand what you're going through.

I live in McKinney have for a long while now, the heat is a killer (we moved from S. Dakota to Texas 10 years ago). There is so much in McKinney there is not really a ton of reasons to go to far. Here is the website for the city http://www3.mckinneytexas.org/www/default.aspx Lots of good info. The McKinney school district is really good, teachers are helpful and nice. We live in the north part of McKinney and love it!
