I currently own a Bissell Proheat 2X steamcleaner and it has given me nothing but headaches. I have replaced so many parts on it because they have broken. Now the attachment piece won't spray anymore. I would like to hear what other moms are using for a steamcleaner and what you think of it. I have been doing some research and found the Hoover Steamvac agility is nice. Please let me know what you think. I don't want to purchase another dud!!! :)

What can I do next?

I love my Hoover. It was even dropped and the cover cracked, I still use it! I don't, however, use commercial cleaners. Just a few tablespoons of Dr. Bronner's castile soap in very hot water, it works wonders! It even removed stains that the professionals left behind. For stubborn stains, mix half and half blue Dawn dish soap and hydrogen peroxide. Rub stain with a toothbrush, blot with a WHITE towel. It gets about anything up. Then I use my Hoover over the area, looks great!

I use the rug doctor, it is cheap to rent and it does an awesome job. When I have the money to buy one myself I am going to get one.

Well, I just bought one and I wanted to use it before I responded. I just used it this morning. We just adopted a Labradoodle puppy and we already had a 6 year old Shih-tzu, and I am a clean freak--so it is needed!!

I bought a Bissell Power Steamer Upright Deep Cleaner. This cleaner had a five star rating with excellent reviews.

I am very pleased. I think it did a wonderful job, and for the money (under $160.00), I will get lots of use of it. I alway have had my carpets done proffessionally and was never 100% satisfied! I think this did just as good of a job! As fo getting the carpets too wet, just don't over do it--and the instructions warn of this.

I know you had bad luck with a Bissell--I would call the company, it could be that you just happened to get a bum one and maybe a repacement would work the way it is suposed to.

As for me, I am HAPPY--my carpets are clean and my home smells good--until the dogs are out of their crates and the kids get home--LOL:)

GL:)

I have a canister Bissel steam cleaner. I always considered it a pain, just because I have a multi-level house and have to feed a tube from one level to another through the laundry chute. And it was/is a little difficult to snap the extension tubes together. Just overall not my choice. But I didn't buy it either. Same with my vacuum. I'd have chosen something entirely different.
If you don't like it, sell it, trash it, donate it. And then call the Purple Truck (Hagopian) or some other rug cleaner. I'd say it'd be worth the occassional price. Around my house it doesn't get done anyway. I'm disabled, and who's ever left doesn't think of it.

I own a Bissel Cleaner also which stopped spraying, so I took it apart on the hose near where it sprays and cleaned out the water tube, reconnected it, put it all back together and it is working much better. I love this cleaner even though we have had parts break also, ( we have contacted the company for free replacement parts) as it as been a life saver cleaning up pet accidents!

I wouldn't recomend any of them. They get the carpets to wet and cause mildew under the carpet. I recomend paying the price for the professionals to do it. Hagopian done a really nice job on my carpet I would use them again and they were resonably priced as well.

I have an older version of the Hoover steamVac and have been very happy with it. We've only had to do one minor repair in about 5 years. Hope that helps!

Which model is your Steam Vac? I just bought one. I'd like to know if it's the same before I pull it out of the box.

Hi T.,
I have had the same problems. We bought a bissel (don't remember what kind) and then another one and that also didn't work. My husband and I decided to get the carpets cleaned professionaly twice a year. It may be more expensive but they get the carpets so much cleaner. Plus, the carpet guys told me that when you use products like resolve or the non professional carpet cleaners, if you don't get the chemical completely off the carpet it will dye or fade your carpet. There are sections of my carpet that I thought was stained from the kids but is actually faded. I never realized that and it made me a little angry. Anyway, I am babbling a little. Good luck.
Chris

Hoover SteamVac. I like it most because it's only a bit more complicated than a regular Vac.

We use the hoover steam vac with deep cleaning action. My mother in law and her sisters bought it together, so there are easily 10-12 families that use it year round. None of use have had any problems with it, and i love it. If I had to buy one on my own, it would be the one I would buy

I have had my Hoover Extractor for about 5 years and it's paid for itself. I've never had any problems with it and it works like a breeze. I use it on my area rugs as well as my wall to wall. I also use it on all my furniture and cars upholstery once a year. With 2 kids it's amazing the uses you find for one. I would highly recommend the Hoover brand steamcleaner, it's a bit pricey but worth every penny.
