Recommendations on Green/Natural Products For

Hello ladies,
I've seen some recommendations in past requests, but I'm looking to buy natural/safer cleaning supplies and personal products such as baby wash, sunscreen, moisturizer, etc. There's a number of products out there, I'm not sure which ones work best, was looking for some of your favorites. Appreciate your feedback!

What can I do next?

I agree with the first post. I use vinegar/baking soda (and sometimes a lemon) to clean just about everything. I even use it with my laundry and hair! Google it and you'll find a million different things to use it for.
I also like the Seventh Generation line. We use their wipes/diapers when we aren't using cloth.
Whole Foods 365 brand is great too.
I saw that you have pets. We use Feline Pine kitty litter. It's awesome. We can scoop and flush, and when it's time to change the box, it can be composted or used in flower beds. There is not an awful smell like regular clay litter.

You really don't need to buy anything fancy. You'll probably get a lot of people replying with advertisements/info on buying from companies like Melaleuca, Shaklee, etc. (keep in mind, they're selling this stuff!) My advice would be to save your money and make your own stuff (especially for the cleaning supplies).

I just use white vinegar/water and baking soda for almost everything. Mix white vinegar 1/2 and 1/2 with water, use the baking soda for extra scrubbing power. You can use the vinegar mixture for everything from cleaning windows/mopping the floors to cleaning bathroom & kitchen, and even dusting. You can use a dab of olive oil to polish wood. I also use vinegar in the wash as a fabric softener instead of using dryer sheets.

For baby wash, I like Burt's Bees. I only use the shampoo, they really don't need soap yet. I also use the Burt's Bees sunblock. We don't really use moisturizer... if you don't over soap or shower too hot, you really don't need it, on occasion, I do use Aloe as a moisturizer (also great to use as a "gel" for baby hair!). We use a vegetarian glycerin soap (no dyes, no perfumes), it's 365 brand from Whole Foods. My husband and I also use Burt's Bees shampoo.

I'll third the vinegar/baking soda, sometimes lemon. I also use tea tree oil and lavender for my stinky laundry (rags mostly) and occasionally bioclean bacout. For baby wash I tried a lot and I really like the california baby scentless. I also use their sunscreen, but have been using a nutragena one that uses physical barrier (zinc oxide, etc.) instead of the chemicals this year because it is cheaper and goes up to spf 60 and the other ones I could only fine like 30 it seemed. I'm still working on what to use for my hair, my daughter who has too much hair to use the california baby we use alba, but there are so many out there, and some smell weird, so I go and try to check them out at stores, also, I look at drugstore.com to check ratings. I really have to say that I have not liked the clean that things got until I started sticking to baking soda and vinegar!

ps. dishwashing detergent for my dishwasher was a big one for me (as so much of it gets in the air and we eat off of those plates and forks), and I tried a lot, I tried making my own a couple of times, and I think it depends on your water how well different ones and different recipes work, but I like biokleen's a lot, and that's all we use now.

Did you know that plain household vinegar is the best natural product you can use. You can use it on the baby clothes in the wash in place of bleach for whitening the whites. And the smell does not stay in the clothes when washed. You might want to check on the internet about the different ways to use vinegar. Aveeno is the best I believe on the market for the baby products. As my grandson had excema as a baby an that is what the dr. recomemended for her to use. We still use the lotion on him as he has outgrown most of his problems with excema.

Hi R. - I sell Melaleuca products that you can only get online from being a customer, but they are fabulous, all natural products that I love. No chemicals in them - phosphate, bleach free. We have over 400 different products. If you'd like more info, feel free to contact me at ____@____.com to www.melaleuca.com and also www.saferisbetter.com/amygraham for more info!

I love Jordan Essentials bath, and body products. They are all natural, made in America--Nixa, Mo! Company was founded by a woman-Nancy Bogart-and has been in business for 9 years. I bought the products for several years before deciding to join to mostly get the discount. Visit my website, www.jordanrep.com/11612 and let me know if you would like more info!

Hi R.,

First of all, I would like to clarify something that I read in one of the answers, I do not sell products! That said, I have switched my shopping to Melaleuca, I love their products and I know that everything is safer and less expensive. My family loves them too. I have been shopping with them for the last 5 years and I think it has been the best decision I have ever made. You may have heard about the business side of it, but I am a customer that only help other people when they care about healthier and better products, not just about making money with it. I really recommend their products for your daily needs. We only help people get a membership to buy this products for less money, we do not sell anything or deliver or push people, what I love. And we do not need to do any business, we can be just customers that purchase smarter.
This month the membership is half off if you are intrested on giving them a try and it is risk free too! (just $14.50). Let me know if I can help you or you have any more questions.
Hope it helps!

We exclusively use Shaklee products. The Get Clean products (household cleaner, laundry, dish, etc) are by far cheaper than any prepackaged brand like Seventh Generation, or Clorox (laugh) 'Green'works bought at Wal-Mart & sometimes even plain old vinegar! (I have a pdf sheet if you are interested in the cost comparison) http://www.shaklee.net/gogreenhealth/prodHou

We also use all their personal care product & baby line. http://www.shaklee.net/gogreenhealth/product/BabyCare

The reason that we use Shaklee can be summed up at this site: http://www.shaklee.net/gogreenhealth/aboutMain

I hope that helps a bit, sorry I can't plead my case anymore, I have to get going on my day!
